Missing Person: Silver Alert

The Algonquin Police Department is seeking assistance in locating a missing elderly man.

Joseph Nies, age 83, was last seen at his residence in Algonquin, Illinois on 08/11/2022 at approximately 9:00 a.m. and has not returned home nor has he contacted his family to advise of his location.

Joseph is believed to be driving a 2010 dark green Lexus LS460 (IL registration 1049095).

Joseph is described as being 5 foot 05 inches tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds with blue eyes, gray hair and a fair complexion.

Joseph may be in the area of Alton, Illinois or possibly in Missouri, as investigative leads are indicating.

It is believed that Joseph may be in the beginning stages of dementia and therefore may be unaware of where he is.

A SILVER alert has been issued statewide.
