The Crystal Lake Police don’t do regular patrols either.
I’ve spoken with Police Chief Black.
He said there are only so many officers per shift.
When something happens that requires backup (which happens all the time) the squads are pulled from their “regular” patrols.
We only see the police in our neighborhood when they are looking for someone or someone needs assistance.
Chief Black said to me that they do it this way in Downers Grove too and “it works really well there”.
Doesn’t work so well in Crystal Lake.
They all need to bring back regular neighborhood patrols!
Same with Cary PD.
MOst of the time there is an abundance of Police vehicles, marked and unmarked parked at the new station adjacent to the new Municipal building.
word around town is Chief has a budget to make and gas prices are so high, the “driving around” part is now too costly.
Thus cops are parked at the station or sitting in darkened parking lots, usually reading things on their phones.

A shame because they put out an alert for car break ins just last week.
