Catalina Lauf Holds Successful Woodstock Fundraiser Headlined by Utah Congressman Burgess Owens

Catalina Lauf

When she went to Washington to accept a Trump appointment in the Commerce Deparrtmen, Cstalina Lauf took two books–the Bible and “Why I Stand” by Burgess Owens.

“It spoke to me,” she said Tuesday night at the Red Mill Inn in Woodstock.

“It was about the rise of Marx[ism].

“So inspiring. So moving.

“It really changed my life,” the now twenty-nine year old woman told the crowd.

“We need people, not politicians to be running our country,” she continued, “a new generation who will is going to fight for democracy here.”

Lauf criticized Illinois Democrats for reapportionment maps that fingered out from Cook County democratic strongholds.

“The Democrats didn’t want us to be heard.

“We’re going to push back against the Democrats who are trying to ruin America.”

Congress Burgess Owens beat a Democrat in Utah in 2020.

On the night before he entered Walter Reed Army Hospital with Covid, President Donald Trump participated in a Telephone Town Hall with Owens for twenty-five to thirty minutes.

Afterward Owens noted that he thought the President seemed tired.

The next day’s news told him why.

Owens was in town for Lauf because she is one of about twelve he has decided to support actively for election in 2022.

Owens bemoaned the decline in families having two parents in the home.

A former football player, he said he grew up in a middle class community.

“I know what it means to lose,” he said, remembering, however, that he “never wanted to be the weak link.

“It’s time to get off the sidelines.

“We are at the cutting edge of losing everything.”

Growing up he said he “learned not to like bullies, and that’s what the Democrats are.”

He pointed out that “Trump was the first one to stand up to them.

“He drives them nuts.”

He added, “I’m so frustrated with the past class of Republicans.

“I want to see politicians walking in orange suits.”

Lauf retook the stage telling of her having raised $1.5 million fom $5 and $10 contributions.

Referring to her oppoent Bill Foster, she said, “He fundamentally doesn’t understand this district.

“We’re not only going to fipl this seat, but we’re going to keep it.”

Among those in attendance were County Board candidates John Reinert (D-2) and Matt Kunkle (d-1), flanking County Board Chairman Mike Buehler.

She did allow that it would be a close vote, however, while soliciting people to hold community gatherings, go door-to-door and recruit other volunteers.

  1. Cal why do you want to trigger Marc Avelar aka John Lopez by posting about Lauf?

I’m in D-10 and all I have is Severino.

    What a joke.

  2. Before anybody points out the obvious mistakes in the article, just know that Cal does not proofread before posting.

He types it and then posts.

    Proofreading?

    Not on this blog.

    Cal doesn’t believe in that.

  3. THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKIN

And that’s just what they’ll do

One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

    ^That’s from a song. hahaha

  4. NO, that IS a song.

And that IS the name of the song that Nancy Sinatra had a number one hit with in 1965.

    Lee Hazelwood wrote it.

  5. Lauf said:

“We’re going to push back against the Democrats who are trying to ruin America.”

    And the Democrats are succeeding.

Such as here in Illinois with the SAFE-T act and agendas for deviant sex indoctrination scheduled for young children in public schools.

And ruin started nationally during the 8 years of the Barak Hussein Obama regime, paused during Trump admin, and no continuing with the doofus, dimwit, dope, zombie, sleepy and dazed Joe Biden since Jan 20, 2021.

  6. Here’s a partial list.

“It spoke to me: she said –> “It spoke to me,” she said
“a new generation who will is going to fight for democracy” –> (My guess is the word “will” should be cut.)
“We are ib tge cutting edge –> “ib tge” = on the

    Then there are style choices.

There are more pictures from the event circulating on social media.

You should put some of those pictures into this article as well as the one you have with the McHenry County politicians.

  7. Correcting may be referring to the pic of Sallie Nyhan Davis, Congressman Owens, Catalina Lauf (wearing Owens’ Super Bowl ring, which he loaned to others in their pics with him), and former Illinois Republican Party executive director, and senior policy advisor to Richard Irvin’s gubernatorial campaign Derek Murphy.

  8. Dobie,

Keep an eye out for that announcement.

Will make it on or after Labor Day.

  9. Catalina ended the primary with $25k.

    Raising $1.5mil means nothing.

What a waste of nomination… also, the rest of the district could care less about Owens.

  10. And the appointment was not from Trump… add that to the editorial blunder this post was.
