Daily Herald Decides Competent Watchdog Not Needed to Watch Democrats in Springfield

The Daily Herald has decided to endorse Democrats for State Comptroller and Secretary of State.

I’m not sure newspaper endorsement mean much anymore, but one of these surely tells a lot about how little the Daily Herald powers that be value fighting corruption in state government.

McHenry County Auditor Shannon Teresi has the professional qualifications and the track record of stopping corrptiion in its tracks.

The incumbent Democratic Party State Comptroller does not.

  1. These Herald journo babies will soon be turning 25 and all they’ll have to show for it all, is carpal tunnel syndrome and a permanent sneer.

  2. I havent read the Herald for some time now and its easy to understand why..

WE need to get Teressi in, all Mendosa is interested in, is a paycheck with a generous retirement plan

Giannouailas has all the appearance of a Pedophile, in fact His political ads are slanted that way

Shannon Terssi has a good chance of winning now that she got rid of the Irvin group….

  3. Here’s what cheating, the MSM and garbage rags like the DH and NWH and Tribune endorse.

    Enjoy your recession.

An ex-basketball player and a corrupt swamp rat like Mendoza will bring you to the promised land.

This state is a corrupt joke.

    Vote only on election day.

  4. The tv commercials that Alexi Gianolis made were very, very weird.

He had young children in the commercials and Alexi or someone on his staff gave them ice cream.

No way would vote for him.

But, not voting for ANY Democrat.

    Trust no Democrat ever, never.

Their top US people, Biden and Kamelia, are destroying our Nation with their actions and policies.

Locally, here in Illinois, the top Democrat, Pritzker, approved the very dangerous and reckless so-called, SAFE-T Act.

That Act is actually 180 degrees opposite SAFE.

It favors the criminal element in our, so far, society and civilization.

Ordinary, law abiding citizens – children, women, men, seniors – will be far less safe if the ACT goes into effect this coming January.

  5. I believe at one time he was Blaggos bag man
    REMEMBER THIS ONE?

    Loans made by Broadway Bank

Broadway Bank made real estate development loans to Tony Rezko, a political fundraiser and real estate developer who was later convicted of fraud and money laundering. Broadway Bank made these loans before Rezko was investigated, indicted, or convicted for any crimes, but not before the criminal conduct took place.[53] Before his conviction, Rezko also received loans from other Chicago banks, including Bank of Chicago, First Bank and Trust of Illinois, GE Capital, Harris Trust and Savings, LaSalle Bank, and Manufacturers Bank.[53]

Giannoulias himself did not make the Rezko loans.[54]

Rezko defaulted on loans made by Broadway, and, in 2006 Broadway was the first bank to foreclose on one of Rezko’s delinquent loans, forcing him to declare bankruptcy.[55] Broadway Bank also refused to cover nine bad checks written by Rezko for a total of $450,000 in early 2008[56]

Giannoulias never accepted campaign contributions from Rezko.[45]

Broadway Bank also loaned money for real estate developments to Michael Giorango, who has been convicted for prostitution and bookmaking.[14] Giannoulias has stated that he was not part of the loan committee that approved the loans to Giorango.[57]

Do we want him as secretary of State?

  6. Serious question – what is Teresi doing to campaign? There’s been close to zero campaign for her. She went 3 months without a tweet on her campaign twitter account (which only has 191 followers). She has no money. She’s not paying to communicate with voters. She went silent on free ways to communicate with voters (i.e. social media).

Why should anyone take her seriously as a candidate?

  7. Has anyone ever shown up on Twitter and not immediately self-revealed as being a dumbass?

But try this. Name one single person in sports, journalism, media, politics, entertainment whose reputation has benefited from posting on Twitter.

Shannon is even smarter than I thought.

  8. You can focus on Twitter all you want, but it’s just an example of how she was silent for months and hasn’t made any effort at a real campaign.

Also, claiming that Teresi is more qualified than the woman who has had the job for 6 years is amusing.

  9. No rational human being could be blamed for just shutting the f’ up, in this grim, humorless, conformist fear pit of 2022.

  10. Shake: Numerous designations including a CPA, Forensic accounting, etc.

Mendoza has a BA from Kirksville college she got on a soccer scholarship.

    Not even a comparison.

Having an elected position as a democrat in this state doesn’t make her qualified.

  11. DJ – that’s absurd. If you truly think that a candidate disappearing for a few months is totally cool, more power to you, I guess.

Pokorny – she’s literally done the job for 6 years, and from ALL reports she’s done it well.

Hell, the IL Chamber of Commerce, which very rarely endorses Democrats, just endorsed her.

To claim that Mendoza is now not qualified is laughable.

Also, it is an elected statewide position.

Part of being qualified to do that is being capable of running some semblance of a campaign.

  12. Shake Teressi is much more qualified.

Again doing it for 6 years does not automatically make her qualified.

Man rises to his own level of incompetence.

You are settling because she’s a dem.

A new set of eyes at any financial record is advantageous.

Especially one that has training in forensic auditing.

What do you want to keep hidden?

  13. Do you want judges without law degrees. Teachers without Ed degrees. SAs with no law degrees. Governors without any formal education.

  14. Ah, you clearly have summarized for me the Democrats philosophy, of the importance of political apparatchiks running things vs. someone who can still do math.

  15. And I get it Shake.

I believe Democrats have created an unlivable, dystopian hellscape.

Democrats believe it’s all knee high socks, Brylcreem and bow ties.

  16. Note to self: Stop 50’s cultural references, your the only person on the planet who still hums the Brycreem ad jingle.

  17. Again, from all reports, including from the conservative IL Chamber of Commerce, Mendoza has done her job well. To claim she’s not qualified is laughable.

What specifically do you think Mendoza hasn’t done well?

Also, again, none of you have addressed the joke of a campaign that Teresi has (not) run.

  18. Alexi Giannoulias is corrupt as hell. Google corrupt and his name and his past lives on! These democrats don’t want the Illinois voter data file cleaned up. That’s why the support democrats.

  19. [Narrator: the secretary of state doesn’t control the Illinois voter file data.]

  20. “conservative Il Chamber” really? Where have you been? The National Chamber has idiotically endorsed ESG criteria and have been persona non grata since they endorsed a slew of Democrat scum in swing districts in 2020.

The worst, was when they sent a toad to endorse and speak for Hildabeast, at the Dem Convention, because they didn’t want Trump.

Holy Snickers, I thought you did this political thingy stuff for a living?

  21. You’re aware that the IL Chamber and the US Chamber are two different organizations, right?

If you don’t think that the IL Chamber is conservative, I’m not sure what to tell you other than ask you how many Democrats the Chamber endorses?

  22. ‘Where the head goes the body goes’ is that old axiom that old timey coaches used to teach us.

Unless of course, you want us to actually believe. That the Illinois Chamber, or anything else in Illinois for that matter, could possibly be a bulwark of conservative business values.

  23. Politics has little relation to Qualifications. Because she is in the job does not automatically mean you did it correctly. Re-electing Mendoza is like letting a fox manage the henhouse. As I said before a qualified set of eyes is an advantage the people in this state need. I don’t care what the Illinois Chamber thinks.

  24. **Unless of course, you want us to actually believe. That the Illinois Chamber, or anything else in Illinois for that matter, could possibly be a bulwark of conservative business values.**

Again, DJ – how many Dems does the IL Chamber endorse? They actively opposed fair tax, minimum wage, every tax increase, CEJA and FEJA, etc. I work against them. ALL. THE. TIME.

You can keep making some claim related to a DIFFERENT organization, but the IL Chamber is a Republican/conservative business organization. And you’ve yet to provide any reason for any of us to think otherwise.

**Because she is in the job does not automatically mean you did it correctly.**

I didn’t say that. I said she did the job well, because she HAS done the job well. But, again, feel free to tell us how she has done a poor job. But so far, you, DJ, and Teresi have done nothing of the sort.

  25. I don’t disagree with your assessment of Teresi’s campaign, Shake.
Probably expecting ken griffin to bankroll the thing but he left.
Is she running a good campaign? No, she’s invisible.
I don’t see much on Mendoza either, although she’s the incumbent so she arguably does not need to – especially when her opponent is not trying.
Probably of all the statewide candidates, Teresi is the least active though with the exception of Bailey and Brady the whole field has been doing a bad job of “getting out there.” Demmer, DeVore, and Salvi are only doing slightly more than Teresi.

  26. **Re-electing Mendoza is like letting a fox manage the henhouse.**

The IL Comptroller’s Office does not have oversight over the other elected offices, so this is a silly metaphor. But maybe you’re confused about what the role actually is?

  27. **Demmer, DeVore, and Salvi are only doing slightly more than Teresi.**

I actually like Tom Demmer a lot – he’s very smart, thoughtful, and reasonable, even though he and I disagree with many things. But his campaign has definitely been a big disappointment. But I have still seen more from him than Teresi.

I see a lot more of a campaign from Devore, and even Salvi, than from either Demmer or Teresi though.

  28. You’ve worked for “fair tax, minimum wage, every tax increase”?

Looks like I’ve finally found the guy that camps out in the left lane going 55 mph.

  29. I can assure you that I also strongly dislike the person that camps out in the left lane going 55 mph.

  30. “The IL Comptroller’s Office does not have oversight over the other elected offices” no she just tracks the money.

  31. “I didn’t say that. I said she did the job well, because she HAS done the job well.”

How do you know, other than being a partisan mouthpiece.

I don’t want well, I would prefer correctly.

OJT is not the way here.

She had no experience in the job before she was elected.

That means she relies on the staff to do it and teach her.

I rather have someone that knows government accounting and can make necessary adjustments to the procedures, and make sure the staff knows what they are doing.

  32. I know that she has done a good job because I’ve worked with multiple Comptrollers over the years.

I also know that she’s done the job well because she’s received pretty wide praise – across party lines – for her effectiveness.

But, again, feel free to tell us how she has done a poor job.

You’ve still not done that in any way.

And tell us what and how Teresi would act differently, which is also something that you and Teresi haven’t done.

  33. I remember our first State Comptroller, Crystal Laker George Lindberg, stop the issuance of a lottery contract by Governor Dan Walker because of irregularities.

  34. **But, again, feel free to tell us how she has done a poor job.**
