It’s Time to Start Thinking about Running for McHenry County College Board

There are three seats open on the McHenry County College Board next spring

  • 2-year
  • 4-year
  • 6-year

The McHenry County College Board is going to be sorely tempted to hike its tax take by the full 5% allowed by the Property Tax Cap law.

Videos of past meetings can be found here.

See if you can find the one where the Board increased student tuition by the amount that it hiked administrative salaries.

Upcoming meetings which anyone interested in running should attend follow:

10/18/22 Committee of the Whole
10/27/22 Regular
11/8/22 Committee of the Whole
11/17/22 Regular
No December Meeting

My prediction is that in November the Trustees will vote to impose the largest real estate tax hike allowed under the Property Tax Cap law–FIVE PERCENT.

The Finance guy regularly recommends taking as much as possible.

If that is not enough to inspired one to run for MCC Trustee, some might want to try to figure out why the current Board members approved a mandatory eight-hour training regimen described in the six articles below (the beginning of all articles is the same):

Making McHenry County College Woke – Part 1

Making McHenry County College Woke – Part 2 – “Understanding Implicit Bias”

Making McHenry County College Woke – Part 3 – Microaggressions

Making McHenry County College Woke – Part 4 – “Modern Day-isms”

Making McHenry County College Woke – Part 5 – More on “Day-isms”

Making McHenry County College Woke – Part 6 – Still More on “-isms”

Petitions may be obtained from the MCC President’s complex. You will probably be asked your name, but there is no legal requirement that you provide it.

It’s Time to Start Thinking about Running for McHenry County College Board — 3 Comments

  1. Our President, Joseph Robinette Biden, has stated in the past that his administration looks like America (the U.S.). This would mean that people of all races, religions, gender are represented fairly. Presumably like the data from the 2020 U.S. Census has documented.

By observation of various professional sports teams on television, many of them are grossly UN-diverse excepting gender. Apparently, they do not believe in diversity as espoused by our President. Or, is something else at play regardless of diversity? Are sports teams correct in their hiring practice, or our President?

  2. Please run for the board. The current board is beholden to the administration and is not learning or student-centered.

The whole counselling department was fired with no notice and walked out by campus police.

Students who had current appointments and new students seeking support were left with nothing.

This was supposedly done to save money

Eventually a new title “coach” was created to do the same thing.

Guess who has a company supplying this job in our county?

The President of McHenry County College, Clint Gabbard.

He has a company that does just this job description and he has been promoting it to local hospitals for years.

The President is using his title to moonlight.

He was co-founder of the company called Trestle Tree.

This is the same board that extended Gabbard’s contract by an additional year to 12-31-25.

New Board members will be stuck with him.

Trestle Tree, his company, was working for Yale when Yale was sued for forcing employees to be “coached” by TrestleTree.

The Yale employees won this lawsuit under ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).
