CL Chamber of Commerce Defends One-Sided Presentation of Democratic Party Congressional Candidate Bill Foster, Ignoring Republican Candidate Catalina Lauf

From a comment submitted by the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce under this story:

Bill Foster in Lake in the Hills Parade.

The Crystal Lake Chamber Commerce is a nonpartisan organization.

The Crystal Lake Chamber Commerce does not support or endorse any candidate or any party for any office, as the flyer clearly states.

The chamber will and does, however, welcome ALL currently elected sitting legislators in our district to host a coffee event with us. [Emphasis added.]

The goal of a coffee with a sitting legislator is for constituents to meet the elected official and have an opportunity to ask questions and hear about goals for the area.

Bill Foster is the only current legislator who has requested one in the past year.

If you have any further questions regarding how to host a coffee with your legislator event please contact the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce.

The problem with the Chamber’s statement is that Bill Foster is NOT a “currently elected sitting legislators in our district.”

Foster has never represented any part of McHenry County.

CL Chamber of Commerce Defends One-Sided Presentation of Democratic Party Congressional Candidate Bill Foster, Ignoring Republican Candidate Catalina Lauf — 22 Comments

  1. Hypocrites much?

It’s one of the DEMOCRAT’S most vile of traits, next to lying of course.

  2. Chamber Staff, the member of Congress for the 11th Congressional District does not become, “currently elected sitting legislators in our district” until 11AM CST on January 3, 2023, when the new 11th Congressional District boundaries are implemented with the swearing-in of the 118th Congress.

Until 10:59AM CST on January 3, 2023, Congressman Sean Casten and Congresswoman Lauren Underwood represent McHenry County for their respective districts.

If you’re going to keep to your policy, the wiser course would be to postpone Congressman Foster’s visit until after January 3, on condition he wins reelection next month.

To hold the Foster visit prior to Janaury 3 will create this event as a political event, and not an official visit.

  3. LOL…The CL Chamber expects people to believe this.

That’s actually more offensive than just saying nothing and quietly pretending to be partisan.

The BEST, MOST HONEST move is just admit you’re a liberal organization that needs the open boarder policies to keep your rich members happy.

    What a freaking joke.

  4. Chamber of Commerce, like Planned Patenthood, CDC, NSA, FBI, Pfizer, Moderna, etc., is a criminal enterprise.

If 5,000 people were dragged out of their offices and bunkers and shot in the street, we might be able to have a fighting chance of testoring the country.

Don’t focus just on the diaper wearing Biden, controlled opposition Trump, Obama, the corrupt Bushes, Cheneys, Faucis, Clintons were equally to blame.

Israel is steadily making criticism of its crimes illegal in the US, getting such criticism defined as “anti-Semitism”. This is the true purpose of the current push to censor “misinformation”.

Israel’s next campaign will be PNAF (Project for a New American Flag), getting Congress to change the the American flag.

    The new design is here.

  5. Here is an idea, boycott the businesses of Crystal lake chamber of commerce members.

    Simple and effective.

  6. No, the Republican Party Chairman should issue a Press Release

    1) NEVER be a member of this chamber
    2) publicly denounce this chamber
    3) solicit and partner with a current member or members of the chamber to form another business friendly organization!

I am by education & training a space plasma physicist & solar/jovian radio astronomer.

While I pursued my undergraduate degree in physics at NIU, I was employed by the NIU Physics Dept. at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (“Fermilab”) as a physics research assistant and electronics technician.

I was pleased to work on the electronics and data analysis of the huge D-Zero proton/anti-proton collider detector experiment muon detector system with the NIU High-Energy Physics Muon team lead by Dr. David Hedin, and which included Dr. James Green, Dr. Suzanne Willis, Dr. Rich Markelov and Dr. Michael Fortner, among others.

During the time frame I worked at Fermilab, high-energy physicist Dr. Bill Foster worked with another massive Fermilab experiment known as CDF.

Bill Foster had a good reputation at Fermilab, and was involved in several very high-profile physics discoveries.

    His Wikipedia biographical sketch reads:

    =====
Early life, education, and business career

Foster was born in 1955 in Madison, Wisconsin. As a teenager, he attended James Madison Memorial High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1976 and his Ph.D. in physics from Harvard University in 1983. The title of his doctoral dissertation is “An experimental limit on proton decay: p → e+ + Π0 (1983).”

    Physics career

After completing his Ph.D., Foster moved to the Fox Valley with his family to pursue a career in high-energy (particle) physics at Fermilab, a Department of Energy National Laboratory. During his 22 years at Fermilab, he participated in several projects, including the design of equipment and data analysis software for the CDF Detector, which were used in the discovery of the top quark, and the management of the design and construction of a 3 km Anti-Proton Recycler Ring for the Main Injector.

In 1998, Foster was elected a fellow of the American Physical Society. He was a member of the team that received the 1989 Bruno Rossi Prize for cosmic ray physics for the discovery of the neutrino burst from the supernova SN 1987A. He also received the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ Particle Accelerator Technology Prize and was awarded an Energy Conservation award from the United States Department of Energy for his application of permanent magnets for Fermilab’s accelerators.

    =====

I am able to personally attest that I am familiar with these facts about Bill Foster’s distinguished physics career, as I was at Fermilab during the same time frame, and knew a number of physicists & engineers working on the CDF experiment, and was generally involved in the physics & engineering and technological culture of Fermilab at the time.

I can state that Bill Foster is well-regarded in not only the high-energy physics community, but also in the wider physics community and in the STEM fields in general, for his many-years advocacy on behalf of STEM education, research & development and technology spin-off industries, in general throughout the years, as especially as a member of Congress.

I find Bill Foster to be a very nice, likeable, well-educated gentleman, soft-spoken and patient, with pleasant manners and demeanor. He tries to be helpful and informative. Like many physicists, he has traveled extensively and developed contacts with colleagues around the globe, and is very learned.

Bill Foster has always sought to promote science, engineering & technology for the general betterment of all persons, and to create a scientifically-informed society and government. He likes to be a team player, and to go out of his way to encourage folks to pursue their interests, even though in our field we physicists have a tendency to be quiet bookworms. People seek him out for his advice and counsel, for good reason.

As Congressman, Bill Foster has “brought home the bacon” not only for Fermilab and the surrounding communities of Batavia, Naperville, Warrenville, etc., but significantly he has also performed miracles in securing very substantial financial & other government resources for many of the STEM communities of Northern Illinois, including Argonne National Laboratory, Northern Illinois University, University of Chicago and Northwestern University.

Not only has he brought home the bacon, he has also brought home the fish, chicken & beef.

Both the meat, and the potatoes.

Such that NIU has benefited greatly, and is very grateful for Bill Foster’s excellent procurement of a substantial slice of the the congressional budget; this benefits our entire state, and certainly all of northern Illinois.

Not only does Bill Foster’s impressive slice of the pie support NSF and DOE funded facilities like Fermilab, but it also benefits regional primary & secondary schools and colleges, and industries & businesses that benefit from the scientific discoveries and the engineering & technological advances. (For example, Fermilab helped create & develop the internet.)

Furthermore, Fermilab and Argonne host many opportunities for substantial public engagement, in educational programs, public lectures, on-campus recreation & nature conservation.

These scientific research campuses also employ substantial numbers of scientists, engineers, technicians, information technology specialists, librarians, secretarial staff, cafeteria staff, housing & travel coordinators for visiting & traveling scientists, etc.

Thus, Fermilab (“FNAL”) and Argonne (“ANL”), are substantial anchors of technological, economic and cultural hubs & corridors, upon which the health of the wider economy of a plethora of communities, and regional northern Illinois, depends greatly.

It is safe to say that, if Bill Foster or other high-profile scientist were not representing FNAL and ANL, our region as a whole would suffer greatly.

I have not met Catalina Lauf.

Via email, immediately after her primary election win, I offered to meet with her to discuss Fermilab and Argonne and regional STEM needs. I also offered to introduce her to retired NIU physicist Dr. Michael Fortner, who also represented the Illinois 49th legislative district in Springfield, and who is also former mayor of West Chicago.

I had previously conversed with Dr. Fortner, to see if it might be possible to arrange for Catalina Lauf to tour Fermilab and Argonne, and to meet with various leaders and other influential (“good-to-know”) personnel.

Unfortunately, while I received an initial quick responsive email of interest, neither Catalina Lauf nor her campaign staff followed up on my suggestions and offers.

From this I can only gather that Catalina Lauf and the Lauf campaign do not recognize the immense importance of Fermilab and Argonne, and related tech corridors, to the newly-configured IL-11th congressional district, and to all of northern Illinois.

Therefore, I cannot see how she could possibly adequately represent all of the relevant STEM facilities, instutitions, industries & related businesses, and also the scientists, engineers, technologists, etc. & their families and communities.

I therefore happily, and wholeheartedly, as a fellow scientist with a strong engineering bent, am pleased to endorse Dr. George William “Bill” Foster, Ph.D, to all the residents of my home county of McHenry County, including my present community of residence of Crystal Lake, and to my home turf of Coral, Harmony, Riley, Marengo & Union, and also to my mother’s residential retirement community in Belvidere in Boone County.

My home township, Coral, would do well to elect Bill Foster to represent you in Congress, especially for the future prospects of the children & grandchildren of Coral, Riley & Harmony.

I find it very exciting that my home county of McHenry County, along with Boone, DeKalb & Kane, has this amazing opportunity to be represented in Congress by an excellent high-energy physicist of Bill Foster’s caliber & reputation.

Therefore, I recommend that we would all benefit greatly by supporting and electing Dr. Bill Foster as our representative in the U.S. Congress, in the Illinois 11th congressional district.

Without hesistation or reservation, and with great enthusiasm, I herewith heartily endorse Bill Foster as the best and excellent candidate, to the good people of McHenry County, Kane County, Boone County and DeKalb County, in addition to DuPage County, Will County & Cook County, and to all of northern Illinois.

    Very respectfully submitted,

  8. Dawn, while Bill may be all you say and know, there’s a little fact you overlook. He’s a Pelosi contrlled Democrat.

I suspect Lauf will be a McCarthy controlled Republican but she is a Republican none the less.

Our tax dollars fund your particle accelerator.

I suspect your support for Bill who influences the purse strings has alot to do with your glowing endorsement.

    My 2 cents.

  9. Dawn, Bill is dying.

    Don’t cry though.

The world will be a better place without the lying creep.

Dawn, take your worthless NIU degree and try to get a real degree.

  10. Yeah, here on this Blog, a hard science degree means nothing, because it could tend to make others look ignorant and feel inadequate.

  11. Is that the same science Fauci was pushing Mellow Mink? Ignorant and inadequate describes dope smoking appraisers like you sport.

  12. After mentioning ignorance and inadequacy, you’re the only one to jump in defending your feelings.

  13. LOL. What a tool you are dope smoking Mink. I don’t live in a world of feelings and empathy like soy boys.

  14. Wow. We have another fake scientist (Astronomy? Really?) defending a nitwit criminal.

    Will wonders never cease?

How about that planet they made up Uranus?

  15. Abram says. “Hypocrites much? while he praises Jesus and hates Jews, Blacks and everybody else that disagrees with him.
Not familiar with the bible are you.

  16. Bill Foster, a Democrat, MIGHT be a reasonable candidate for people in his District and the U.S. in general IF he had denounced the reckless, absurd, destructive and lawless policies and actions of the top person of his Democrat Party in the U.S., Joseph Robinette Biden.

  17. Astronomy and the Universe are real Cindy, not printed on the snow globe flat earth you believe in.

  18. Hey Mink, is that what smoking bongs is telling you? It’s time for another hit.

  19. Which planets do you believe in and which planets don’t you believe in, Cindy?

    What about you, JT?
