Dan Proft’s Mistake

The Richard Uihlein-finance Political Action Committee called Prople Who Play by the Rules commissioned former Chicago Daily News reporter, Chicago Sun-Times Editorical Board member, Chicago Tribune columnist and historial fiction author Dennis Bryne to write a book about Governor JB Pritzker.

“The Governor You Do Not Know, What Every Illinois Should Know” by Dennis Byrne.

Yesterday I went to the Crystal Lake headquarters of the McHenry County Republican Party.

That’s where I found copies of the 59-page paperback.

It could have played the role of political paperbacks dating back to Phyllis Schalaffy’s “A Choice Not an Echo.”

Or “A Texan Looks at Lyndon” by J. Evetts Haley.

Both of those provided background for those supprting Barry Goldwater’s 1964 campaign.

Having read about Byrne’s book weeks ago, I kept waiting for it to end up in my mailbox.

Instead, 6-8 boxes arrived at GOP Chairman Jedf Thorsen’s home this past week.

That, of course, was after most Republican Precinct Committeemen (opps, Committeepersons) had delivered their precinct letters and candidate palmcards.

I spent the extra hour mandated by the end of Daylight Savings Time to read the book this morning.

It covers the transformation of the Democratic Party from the days of John F. Kennedy, who inspired Bryne in college, to the radical times of today.

Byren went from holding his nose a bit to vote against a Democrat to now the inability to discover a reason to vote for one.

So, hundreds of an excellent political manifesto will remained boxed at GOP headquarters when they could have been mailed book rate with the tens of millions of dollars Proft had to play with.

On the issue of abortion, Byrne does a better job of pointing out the hypocracy of Illinois Democrats in emphasizing the issue of abortion than any Repujblican candidate.

The lack of limits to abortion in Illinois.

Proft’s obtaining only publicity on the book’s publishing was such a mistake.

  1. Also the book written against Bruce Rauner during the 2018 primary.

    It made a difference.

Most serious people did not expect Rauner to lose the primary, but Ives came very close to defeating him.

That was actually sent to voters.

You can’t count on Jeff Thorsen to distribute the books.

You can’t count on anybody to distribute them.

    You have to mail them.

They have to be sent directly to people, and as many people as possible.

I agree with you that it should have been done and I too was expecting to receive a copy in the mail but never did.

GOP orgs around the state are having PC distribute them.

    Not smart.

  2. The books will come in handy when Fatty runs fir President in ’24.

Cal, why didn’t you opt to take over the project from Mr. U?

  3. really sick and tired hearing this one horse pony crap.. move on to what you have ruined … and will continue to burden the legal citizens of this STATE… get real…
