Algonquin Township Considering a Referendum to Allow Contract with Garbage Company for Unincorporated Residents

From the resolution to be considered Wednesday night at 7 PM by the Algonquin Township Board:

WHEREAS, under Section 210-5 of the Illinois Township Code, the board of trustees of a
township may, by resolution passed by a majority of its members, submit a question to the electors
of the unincorporated area of the township asking whether the township board should be authorized
to contract with any city, village, or incorporated town or with any person, corporation, or county
for more than one year and not more than 15 years (i) relating to the composting or recycling of
garbage, refuse, and ashes within the unincorporated area of the township or (ii) relating to the
collection and final disposition, or relating solely to either the collection or the final disposition,
of garbage, refuse, and ashes within the unincorporated area of the township,,,

    Shall Algonquin Township be dissolved to reduce property taxes? Yes/No

  3. Don’t do it! You will hate the contract they make. Stay in your freedom to choose for yourself! Crystal Lake screwed everyone with this type of thing.

    They tried this same damn thing in Avon Township, Lake County which caused an immediate 14% increase in garbage collection charges.

    Another brain dead proposal by Township cretins desperately trying to look like they accomplish something besides soaking the taxpayers and grifting pensions.
