Union Empowerment Constitutional Amendment Beaten in McHenry County — 3 Comments

  1. Unions for government workers, who work for WE citizens, are foolish.

Former President Franklin Delanor Roosevelt, FDR & former AFL-CIO Prez George Meany agreed: public sector unions make no sense. Consider this statement:

“It is impossible to bargain collectively with the government.”

That wasn’t Newt Gingrich, or Ron Paul, or Ronald Reagan talking. That was George Meany — the former President of the AFL-CIO — in 1955. . .

The founders of the labor movement viewed unions as a vehicle to get workers more of the profits they help create. Government workers, however, don’t generate profits. They merely negotiate for more tax money. When government unions strike, they strike against taxpayers. FDR considered this “unthinkable and intolerable.”
    . . .
More states should heed the AFL-CIO Executive Council’s 1959 advice:

“in terms of accepted collective bargaining procedures, government workers have no right beyond the authority to petition Congress—a right available to every citizen.”

  2. Wait until the people who voted for this garbage amendment still whine when their property tax bills arrive because they were too stupid to understand what they were voting for

  3. Check the results again, Cal. More people in McHenry County voted YES than NO.

That’s what happens when you report stuff before mail-ins are counted. You end up being wrong.

    Yes 50.27% 52,322
    No 49.73% 51,763

And there are still over 2000 votes that need to be counted so the margin will likely grow.

Pritzker only lost McHenry County by about 2 points and when all the votes are counted LaHood might end up under 60. And this is supposed to be a good year for Republicans?

Republicans blew it. Not only that, McHenry County will be blue in a few years.

It’s over. You better get out while you can. Enjoy more headlines about robbery and violence in the meantime. You had a nice county but not anymore; you had different ideas. Too bad!
