Underwood Snags Elected Leadership Spot

From the Chicago Sun-Times:

Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., poised to start a third term after a big November win, was elected to a spot in House Democratic leadership Thursday, the first Black female to win an elected position on the team since Rep. Shirley Chisholm, D-N.Y., back in the 1970s.

Underwood snared one of three co-chair positions on the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, known as the DPCC. Other winners in the field of seven who sought the posts were Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas., and Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn.

Underwood is now on a path paved by Chisholm, who in 1969 became the first Black woman in Congress, embracing a motto that became famous — “unbought and unbossed.” Underwood often cites Chisholm, who ran for president in 1972, as a role model. From 1977 to 1981, Chisholm was secretary of the Democratic Caucus — and that’s the last time, Underwood noted, that a Black woman was in an elected position — not appointed — at the House leadership table.

  1. Unbought and unbossed?

    An IL dem?

    You’ve got to be kidding.

Underwood was [s]elected for those exact 2 attributes.

    This state is corrupt

  2. Fake nurse and DEMOCRAT “diversity” scammer.

“There’s no evidence anywhere, in the history of humanity to support the claim that diversity is a strength” – Thomas Sowell

  3. With Lauren Underwood’s election to the DPCC as a co-chair, some observers believe Underwood is settling into her role as congresswoman for IL-14, and may now be doing this for the long haul, instead of being prepared for a possible U.S. Senate race when Senator Durbin retires in 2026.

With Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and his $11 million war chest and its likelihood to grow by several million dollars by the time the 2026 election cycle arrives, Underwood beginning to advance in the House Democratic hierarchy could indicate she plans to stay in the U.S. House for a few decades.

In spite the Democrats now being the minority in the U.S. House, with a new Democratic Leader in Hakeem Jeffries, who happens to be black, Underwood could very well be seen as the continuation of growth within the party.

Same could be said for the other two elected co-chairs of DPCC, particularly Congresswoman Veronica Escobar of El Paso.

  4. Re: “new Democratic Leader in Hakeem Jeffries”

This is what he said about Trump’s election in 2016:

“Russia interfered with our election, attacked our democracy, for the sole purpose of artificially placing someone at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. They were successful.”

Is this guy just as dishonest as the moron Democrat US Rep from California, Adam Shi*, who appeared on various left wing and corrupt so-called news networks for many months claiming that there was proof that Trump colluded with the Russians?

The Democrat Party is loaded with dishonest, lying, devious, evil, wretched, stupid, demented people. From the top on down. Joseph Robinette Biden, Kamela Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer (who should be in jail for threatening US Supreme Court Justices), Hillary Rodman Clinton who concocted the phony Russia Collusion, Barak Hussein Obama, etc

  5. It gets better bred. We just watched “died suddenly” this past week and now we get “lied suddenly” thanks to Elon. Add that to the ballot harvesting and MSM complicity and we have treason. Thanks Elon for giving us another nail in the coffin of the [DS].

I find it priceless Musk is using a Trump hating liberal Rolling Stone reporter (Taibbi) to give us the details of the corruption. There are several more days’ worth of the internal emails between Twatter and the [DS] players forthcoming over the next week. Trigger alert for the normal fools that post on this site. Funny. It’s a QAnon conspiracy again with real facts. LOL. Do I need to give you post numbers too? LOL again.

  6. John, it’s not necessarily Underwood OR Raja to the Senate.

Durbin’s election is in 4 years.

Nobody thinks he will run again and he may not even finish his current term.

2 years after Durbin’s term ends, Duckworth will be up for re-election for what could be her third term.

Those years would be 2026 and 2028.

By 2028 Duckworth would have served 4 years in the House and 12 in the Senate and be about 60 with a young kid of her own.

Between her years in gov, her disability, and being a vet, she’s set for life.

Underwood and Raja could both easily end up being in the U.S. Senate 6 years from now.

It’s not an either or thing.

Underwood and Raja: one could get Durbin’s seat and the other could get Duckworth’s seat.

That’s what I think WILL happen, but I’m not sure who will get which one… though it probably doesn’t matter.

  7. The difference between animals and humans is animals would never let the dumbest of the herd lead them.

  8. Re Correcting at 8:05 PM. We have a sufficient quantity of DUMB voters, misinformed by the mostly corrupt left wing Democrat loving media here in Chicago area and Illinois to keep Democrats in power for a very, very long time. Democrat Party is the party of dumb, traitorous politicians. Do Black Americans who vote for this corrupt party even realize that this is the party of slavery, Jim Crow, George Wallace, low support of the 1965 Civil Rights Act compared to Republicans? Is it futile to hope for an honest outcome of our fate? Will the dumb decide the fate of western civilization? Here in Illinoise and the US overall? What about the term that people DESERVE the government they get?

  9. The thing about Underwood that few write about but many talk and joke about is the strange odor(s) that emanate from her body.

An unpleasant mix of musk, decay and dying gardenias that clings to her.
