If you interpret the Second Amendment “strictly” it clearly applies to “militias”.
Individual gun rights were only protected so people could bring their guns to the village green in case of war, or civil unrest (read, “slave rebellions”).
And those guns were muskets.
I have no doubt that if the Founders were alive today and saw what modern weapons could do, they would not have included the Second Amendment.
You can own as many muskets as you want.

The so-called ‘militia clause’ of the Second Amendment is a subordinate clause.
It helps explain and provide context for the main ‘…shall not be infringed’ clause, but imposes no conditions upon it.
Anyone who has bothered to do the slightest bit of research into our Founding Fathers would know that most of them were strongly in favor of private gun ownership, and not just for reasons of militia service.
Citizens back then owned more than just muskets.
Contrary to what our senile president has often stated, some private citizens owned mortars and cannon.
Karens who wanted to control everyone else’s life weren’t nearly as common as they are today.
You can still buy cannons today.
Had a neighbor who dealt in antiques out of her barn, and collectible weapons were a sideline.
She usually had about a dozen cannons on hand at any given time.
