Looking at Candidates for Algonquin’s District 300 School Board

Here they are:

  • Nancy Zettler                 Dundee Township
  • Olutola “Tola” Makinde   Rutland Township
  • Randi Gauthier              Rutland Township
  • Steven J Fiorentino       Algonquin Township
  • Laurie Parman              Dundee Township
  • Robert Reining             Algonquin Township
  • Connie Cain                 Dundee Township
  • Kristina Konstanty      Rutland Township
Connie Cain

The best known is probably former State Rep. Suzanne Ness’ 2022 Republican opponent Connie Cain.

Nancy Zettler, 2018.

Nancy Zettler ran for State Representative and Senator as a Democrat and, while heading Dundee Township’s Democratic Central Committee, won control of the D300 School Board.

Parent Randi Gauthier, who is a member of a recently formed LGBTQIA+ parent advisory council, said she is seeking a spot on the board to further equity and inclusivity measures. She is endorsed by the teachers union, the Daily Herald says.

In a social media post, candidate Kristina Konstanty said she opposes tax increases and supports parental rights and involvement.

Bob Reining

Bob Reining ran for the McHenry County Board earlier this year in District 3 and lost in the GOP primary to Bob Nowak and Eric Hendricks.

From Rutland Township, Olutola “Tola” Makinde, Laurie Parman and Connie Cain are vying for one of the 4-year terms on the District 300 board.

  1. Time to roll up my sleeves and organize another rescue kidnap mission, for Cain and her family, to escape that dystopian hellscape.

  2. Reining is the way to go, in addition to Cain.

Reining was there at D300, outside in the weather, at school board meetings late at night, and all over McHenry County standing up for parents and objectifying to many of those D300 Board Members and their institution.

Looong before he ever decided to run.

A welcoming School Parent, not afraid to confront issues, blue collar, non-beholden to PACS, nor School Board complicit demigod.

  3. If you find information, please send it or put links in the comment section.

  4. Bob Reining: please rein in the perverts and psychopaths running the schools.

  5. Some points to make:

    – D300 voters will elect 4 members to the D300 School Board on April 4
    – Two incumbents are NOT seeking reelection (Joe Stevens, Leslie LaMarca, both of Rutland Township), meaning there are two open seats, and at least two new D300 residents WILL be elected to the school board
    – Of the 3 Dundee Township residents (incumbent Nancy Zettler, candidates Connie Cain and Laurie Parman) on the ballot, only 1 of them can win election no matter how many votes received, assuming any 1 of them are among the top 4 vote getters, given no more than 3 residents from any one township of D300 can serve on the school board at any 1 time, and two Dundee Township residents were elected in 2021.

I had the honor to moderate the candidates forum for McHenry County Board District 3 Republican primary back in June, and Reining impressed me, especially sharing his record as a D300 parent.

Definitely check out Reining’s Facebook page.

Looking forward to a very substantive campaign for D300 school board.

  6. If you are looking for information on the candidates for District 300 School Board, let me introduce myself.

    I am Dr. Laurie Parman.

I have recently retired after teaching for 30 years.

The last 22 years of teaching were spent in District 300.

I served in various roles including interim Assistant Principal and Head of Language Arts for 5th Grade at Lakewood School.

I also served on various committees including Boundary Change Committes in 2002 and 2007.

I primarily taught English Language Arts and American History at Lakewood School, and finished my career teaching Culinary Arts, Fashion and Apparel and Fashion Merchandising at Dundee Crown High School.

I come to the school board race offering solutions for solving the school district’s claim that only about half of its students are reading at grade levle and slightly better in math. (according to their own records).

  7. The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Patch published an article on Dec 13 which included this excerpt interviewing D300 School Board Member Joe Stevens with emphasis added.

“Stevens told Patch on Tuesday that after 17 years on the board, it’s time for ‘new blood.’ Stevens, who is 77 years old, says he will miss being part of the school board.

” ‘In reality, I will miss it but these last few years have been especially difficult with the pandemic, and a very vocal minority who attack us on a regular basis,’ he said. ‘My hope is that whomever replaces me on the board will have one goal and only one goal, the truly best interests socially, emotionally, and educationally of the children of this district.’ “

Now we have another direct quote showing how the current D300 Board felt about parents who cared to attend school board meetings showing genuine heartfelt concerns about their childrens’ education in our taxpayer-funded schools.

Contrast the thoughtful with humility introduction by Dr. Laurie Parman who’s making the quality of D300 education part of her platform.

D300 school board race will be a very invigorating campaign for the April 4 election – as it should be.

  8. Fellow d300 parent that was out there in that cold day in Feb.

I want to remind all that Zettler and Fiorentino voted and agreed on the Esser funds which included in the requirements masking, testing and forced quarantines of our children to be done till 2024.

I have this paperwork all 800 something pages worth.

This would have been done still if it wasn’t for a ton of us parents taking Pritzker and the school districts to court.

Just at one of the previous meetings where members are supposed to be non partisan Zettler spoke up about how she stands behind The Bakery.

She has been pushing her democractic nonsense since she’s been in there.

  9. Hi everyone, How can I vote in the 2023 D300 school board Election? I’ve never voted in one before, I live in Dundee. Thanks

  10. Danny, send an email to Cal with your full real name and address, and ask him to forward the email to me, and I can help connect you on voting, how and where.
