  1. Cal, the title should be “Illinois Sheriffs Rejecting Democrats’ Gun Control Law.”
    🙂

  2. As far as McHenry County goes, word on the street is that the County Board is going to be asked to back up the Sheriff and prohibit enforcement.

A resolution to that effect, coming from the Republican Central Committee is forthcoming.

Only the final verbiage is still in debate.

The results will call the RINOs out once and for all to see.

  3. It’s an empty gesture.

Confiscations generally are handled by the State Police.

  4. An empty gesture by the Sheriffs, yes…as empty a gesture as the unconstitutional law.

Governor Pritzker is the one grandstanding.

  5. Essentially saying they won’t cooperate on this with the ISP.

No providing help or tagging along on such investigations or arrests.

As someone here pointed out though, you still have municipal forces that can act independently, but are probably less attractive as partners than a sheriff’s office, as there are far too many of them to be practical.

In the end though, the law will be on the books.

In the situation of a crime with an arrest, the question will be if their possession of one of these weapons is specifically noted in the arrest record, and whether or not the State Attorney will include it in a charging document and prosecute.

Just as the Sheriffs have come forward, would expect then that the State Attorneys are also have discussions on this.

Hope to see them also make some statement publicly.

  6. Now you have all these dealers, whose business and trade in these weapons and accessories that in many cases, is 50% or more of their business volume.

On top of which, the very legality of their inventory is in question and not addressed.

Theoretically, like the other owners of these weapons, they’re allowed to own them, yet are not allowed to sell them.

Even if allowed to transfer them on out of state sales, they’ll still loose money.

Maybe Pritzger can reimburse them with Covid bucks. 🤪

Some smaller dealers are dropping out and retiring, hope enough of them make it through to the other side on this.

  7. Will county Sheriff put out a press release saying he wont enforce it.

    He is a Dem

  8. Tadelman’s job, and the job of any sheriff, is to enforce the laws that are in the books.

It is not to determine the constitutionality of said laws.

That will make its way through the courts and be decided in time.

If it’s deemed unconstitutional, Rob can ignore it at that time.

Until then, do the job we elected you to do.

Don’t make me wish I had voted for Tony.
