Governor Needs a Course in State and Local Government

That’s the course I taught at Harper and Rockford Colleges.

Governor JB Pritzker has got the state part down.

He has figured out how, through Executive Orders, to concentrate power as tightly as any Governor I have seen.

With regard to local government knowledge, however, Pritzker needs some classwork.

A Friend of McHenry County Blog sent me a link to a WGN-TV story the headline of which you see below:

From WGN-TV.

The gist of the story is in these paragraph:

“After several Illinois law enforcement agencies said they won’t enforce the new gun ban, Gov. JB Pritzker had a strong response:

Comply or hit the road. [Emphasis added to this WGN summary of the sentence below.]

“’As are all law enforcement all across our state and they will in fact do their job or they won’t be in their job,’ Pritzker said Tuesday during a press conference.”

Oh, really?

Doesn’t Pritzker know that Sheriffs are independently elected?

Just as voters can’t get rid of him until his term is us or he voluntarily leaves office, neither can he force Sheriffs out of office.

Voters can’t get rid of them or any other elected official through recall elections as in Wisconsin.

He and his Democratic Party supermajorities could cut subisidies for Sheriffs’ salaries, but I image most local county boards would be willing to take up any slack created.

And, there is that section of the State Constitution that says an elected officer’s compensation cannot be increased or decreased during the term of office.

Local police are another matter.

Pritzker can’t fire them either .

They report to a mayor or village president.

Governor Needs a Course in State and Local Government — 40 Comments

  1. Sheriffs can’t be fired by the Governor as they are elected.

Following the Constitution is the highest law in the land and cannot be superceded by State, County or local law/ordinance.

  2. What is Governor Pritzker’s position on illegal aliens and invaders who come to into the U.S. across the U.S. southern border? Is the Governor agreeable to allowing these persons to come to and stay in Illinois?

If so, then he is in violation of U.S. Federal laws as defined in Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a)

Harboring — Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii) makes it an offense for any person who — knowing or in
reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in
violation of law, conceals harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield
from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation.

  3. Well said Cal.

I enjoy your historical perspective and wealth of knowledge in local and state Government.

As for Pritzker thats another story.

What a contrast to Governor Desantis in Florida.

    Both have obvious presidential aspirations.

I wish I was in Florida to be part of the Desantis show instead of the Pritzker horror show.

Has Illinois ever had a Governor posturing for a Presidential run in the past?

  4. Correct you are, Slapdyck.
Even if BullshitScientest/Martin desperately wishes that were not the truth.

  5. Although Pritzker cannot fire the locals, we do need an elected recall option in this state so people like the old Winnebago Coroner who committed crimes while in office, doesn’t get paid for almost 2 years to stay home.

  6. Hilarious Public Sector Culture snapshot here.

“Yea, wouldn’t want to be banished to the Private Sector, they expect productivity, profit and results.”

  7. HB 5471 (gun legislation) is but the latest overreach from the tyrant while knowing full well it is doomed to fail and will be found unconstitutional.

Pritzker knows it and the lockstep leftists, Illinois General Assembly knows it.

However, that is their play, to genuflect and grandstand to those ignorant.

Where are those republicans in the IGA?

When will any of them take a stand?

Yes, yes, they are outnumbered, however, a Recall attempt is warranted.

While it will fail since it requires an equal number of State Representatives (20) and State Senators (10) from each side (democrats will never agree) could perhaps garner national attention to this clown and damper his 2024 bid for president.

  8. Good luck in getting recall through the Illinois General Assembly.

  9. Blagojevich had such ambitions and I’m sure Dan Walker did, too.

One of our readers has pointed out that Jim Thompson was on Nation al Republican Convention signs as a Vice President until, as the comment went, the first George Bush read his FBI report.

  10. Cal. If you think the Biden crime family is bad just do a little digging on the Bush crime family.

    Why was 9/11 executed again?

Enjoy the loss of yor freedoms.

    Think Utah.

  11. There was some speculation on the Illinois Carry board that Pritzker would try to use the The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board to decertify police chiefs and sheriffs who refused to bend to his will.

I don’t think he could get away with that, but the Board is packed with anti-gunners, including Crook County Sheriff Tom Dart, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown, Illinois Atty General Kwame Raoul, and the City Manager of Highland Park.

  12. George Bush was in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 calling the FBI before Oswald was arrested saying a ‘James Parrot’ may have done the assassination. J.Edgar left a memo the following week stating that he met with George Bush of the CIA. Bush stated that he was never in the CIA but was named its Director in the 1970s. Bush was the last second choice of Ronald Reagan who was shot ninety days into his first term.

Bush’s father Senator Prescott Bush was the mentor of Richard Nixon putting him on the Eisenhower ticket. Nixon lost to Kennedy in the 1960 election. Nixon was elected President in 1968 which his likely opponent would have been Robert Kennedy who was murdered.

    Coincidence?

  14. I lived in Utah for three years (during 6th, 7th and 8th grades).

That’s where I learned all I know about what it’s like to be in a minority.

But I’d guess you had something else in mind with your comment.

  15. LOL Cal.

I was pointing out Utah because that’s where the NSA built their worldwide data capturing storage facility after the Patriot Act was passed.

I’m sure you heard of a zetabyte.

The Patriot Act was a result of the 9/11 false flag.

If you still do research, you may want to take a look at Operation Northwoods.

JFK was killed by the CIA because he refused to go along with the corrupt evil empire which the fat slob in Springfield is part of.

This has nothing to do with that operation. The 30m video shows the pulse of the nation against the deep state. Pritzker’s overreach just adds to it. I’ll wait for WGN to report on it. LOL.

If you read this far here’s what a zetabyte defined is:

A zettabyte is a unit of measurement used by technology professionals and the general public to describe a computer or other device’s storage capacity. The number of bytes is equal to 2 to the 70th power, also expressed as 1 sextillion bytes. One zettabyte is approximately equal to 1,000 exabytes or 1 billion terabytes.

The government certainly needs a lot of storage capability out there in Utah.

    I wonder why?

I’m sure Larry Potash will do an expose on the whole thing.

  16. They have that storage capacity to listen, watch and archive.

There’s no way to monitor everything in real time, but everything there is searchable and viewable if they want it. They probably have most of your phone calls, emails, texts, browser history, etc.

  17. Wasn’t Noah’s Ark 300 zetabytes by 50 zetabytes by 30 zetabytes in size?

  18. No chit Sherlock. Ask yourself why.

    Is it another Qspiracy Monk.

What recently happened in the Fulton County cheating lawsuit re the 2020 election?

I’m sure you’re all over that.

Are you in the Alps with the other Davos/WEF slime too? Pritzker needs a towel boy.

  19. . It was in Crimea that the White Russians led by General Wrangel fell to the Red Army in 1920. About 50,000 prisoners of war and anti-Bolshevik civilians who had surrendered after they had been promised amnesty, were subsequently executed, on Kun’s and Rosalia Zemlyachka’s order, with Lenin’s approval.

Mass arrests and executions were carried out under Kun’s administration.

Between 60,000 and 70,000 inhabitants of the Crimea were murdered in the process.

  20. Yeah, am in Davos this year. Daddy only let me use the G5. He never lets me use the BBJ. So embarrassing!

  21. Monk you are such a fool it impresses me every time your weed soaked fingers touch your keyboard.

And Cal unless you direct a comment to a poster it’s hard to figure out who you are addressing. If it was for me the “No Standing” argument with regards to election rulings in the lower courts was overturned and the case will be heard.

Poor little Monks wet dream balloon was popped by that ruling. Don’t worry he has Porky on his G5 to comfort him on the way home from Switzerland. Those poor guys on Halsted gotta be worried where they are since they so look forward to their supple lip service.

  22. Georgia…..YAWN!

Get back to us when a finally successful event ever occurs on that front. Ever.

  23. Monk you used 5G and you’re still alive. Cindy how is that possible?

  24. We live under a zionist tyranny, just like Palestinians, Ukrainians, Canadians.

    Jews have always hated Russia:

Japanese antisemitism is a particularly interesting case. Japan was able to defeat Russia in 1905 only after a Jewish banker in New York, Jacob Schiff, helped Japan by floating bonds. So The Protocols of the Elders of Zion confirmed what the Japanese already suspected: Jews really did pull the strings of global finance. But, instead of wishing to attack them, the Japanese, being a practical people, decided that they would be better off cultivating those clever, powerful Jews as friends.

As a result, during the second world war, even as the Germans were asking their Japanese allies to round up Jews and hand them over, dinners were held in Japanese-occupied Manchuria to celebrate Japanese-Jewish friendship. Jewish refugees in Shanghai, though never comfortable, at least remained alive under Japanese protection. This was good for the Jews of Shanghai. But the very ideas that helped them to survive continue to muddle the thinking of people who really ought to know better by now.

  25. Terminator, your brain is muddled. You keep forgetting your name and inventing new ones. Waiting for your confusion to grow, waiting for you to “transition”.

  26. Oh wait, you did. You’re Goldie when in the mood. Haven’t heard from Duncan in a while. Maybe your MPD is improving?

  27. Brunson although unsuccessful was still worth mentioning since it was a real case and interesting.

It wasn’t some guy on Rumble claiming Podesta would be arrested on the 14th because of “mirrors” and “deltas.”

And it got all the way to the Supreme Court.

I would compare this to how maybe some Democrats who watched the Trump impeachment thought the whole ordeal was newsworthy even if they regarded it as unlikely that Trump would be removed.

Keep an eye out for a case in Arkansas too.

    It is challenging voting machines.

It is an interesting case and I know the equipment challenged in that case is or was used in McHenry County.

It is still at a really low level in the judicial system.

Another county in Arkansas decided to switch to paper ballots.

I did not read too many details of Brunson case beforehand and can see now why it failed, however, as said before it was still worth talking about!

Joe Biden is a bad president.

  28. This Fat Btrd is grooming himself to run for Prezzz… this is just another law he is going to say when he is up on the podeum debate stage I did this and I did that.. ALL BS! but he can say it.. now he is in Europe saying how green it is here… for him and his swamp piglets…
