Crystal Lake Townhouse Fire

From the Crystal Lake Fire/Rescue Department:

STRUCTURE FIRE – 1264 Walnut Glen Dr.

Crystal Lake, IL – The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded to a reported structure
fire at 3:57 pm.

1264 Walnut Glen Drrive, Crystal Lake.

The first fire unit on scene arrived within 3 minutes and reported smoke coming from the front of a two-story townhome.

The occupants were home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury.

There were working smoke detectors in the townhome at the time of the fire.

The smoke detectors alerted the occupants.

The occupants called 911 reporting smoke in the attic.

The occupants of the three other adjacent townhomes were evacuated until the fire crews determined the fire did not advance past the original townhome.

A fire was located in the basement and was extinguished by the first fire crews on the scene.

The location of the fire was near the furnace.

The fire was declared under control at 4:26 pm.

The townhome sustained heat, smoke, and water damage.

The townhome at 1264 Walnut Glen Drive was deemed uninhabitable until repairs could be made.

The three other adjacent townhomes remain habitable and those occupants were allowed to return to their homes.

Damage to the townhome is estimated at $30,000.

There were no injuries to any civilians or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Crystal Lake Fire Rescue and Crystal Lake Police
investigators.
