Perhaps the headline should be “How Not To Stop Public Corruption.”
The Chicago Sun-Times had this headline:
The Sun-Times reported, “Danilo ‘Danny B’ Barjaktarevic told a federal judge Tuesday that the FBI investigation that led to that photograph didn’t “portray me as a person.’ Rather, he said he had a ‘weak moment’ when he took $43,000 in bribes. And, he said, ‘I am ashamed of myself.’”
Let’s see, $43,000 at a thousand and $2,000 a pop seems to reflect more than one weak moment.
While the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Federal guidelines called for a two-year sentence, Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman settled on three months.
Three months, plus 100 hours at the Greater Chicago Food Dipository.
And he has to pay back the $21,000 he got from the first half of the bribe.
That will not serve as much of a deterrent to accepting bribes.
She is a Barack Obama appointee who served previously as a Cook County Circuit and Appellate Court Judge.
In 2015, Judge Coleman sentenced former Illinois Representative Derrick Smith to five months in prison for a bribery conviction related to pocketing a bribe from a purported day care. Smith also was ordered to serve a year of supervised release and complete 360 hours of community service.
Prosecutor: “For your consideration your Honor, we submit our video surveillance.”
Judge: “Everyone who can aim a camera thinks they’re a photographer.”
“Big whoop, so you took a picture of a thief and interior shadows. Oh, you must think your so brooding and deep.”
Not even a slap on the wrist, not a surprise coming from an Obama judge concerning one of their own
DEMOCRAT thieves.
A 2 tier justice system.
Antifa arsonists, killers and bombers: no investigation, charges or imprisonment.
J6 patriots: political prisoners in the negroid gulag of DC, imprisonment but no charges for hundreds.
Nice country.
Oh, wow, cool. I didn’t know Vin Diesel lived in Chicago…..
