A Friend of MHenry County Blog turned up some inconsistencies concerning newly-apppointed Huntley School District 158 School Board member Jonathan Dailey.
Transparency or, maybe a better word is “consistency,” apparently are not among of his traits.
Consider what the Friend of McHenry County Blog has found Dailey saying and doing.
Maybe, the Blog Friend concludes, “Dailey might not be the ‘best person to lead the district,’ as board member Bill Gehren claims.
“In watching Dailey’s 30-minute interview, Dailey promotes himself as being an experienced board member who understands his place and role on a board as subordinate to the superintendent.”

What D158 organization chart is Dailey looking at?
Continuing, Blog Friend explains, “He notably fails to acknowledge that he is CFO of Flinn Scientific, a company D158 contracts with to provide scientific equipment and program supplies and has done so for at least 6 years.
“Furthermore, while Mr. Gehren alleges that no one on the board knew Mr. Dailey prior to his interview, in addition to regularly approving financial dispursements to Flinn Scientific, the district did accept a donation of facemasks and hand sanitizer at the January 21, 2021 board meeting.

Thank you for this story, so many people were talking about this in the Huntley Facebook groups when it happened and the groups just kept deleting discussion of it.
The nepotism here runs deep, there is no way the board could possibly have said they did not know Daily.
His child plays ball with another board member’s son and another resident wrote on Facebook (now deleted) that Daily golfs with another board member.
And yes the board has science contracts with his company.
They all said they did not know him before the meeting.
But they approved his science contracts so…… how could any of them be telling the truth.

Multiple parents from the community applied for that seat and any one of them would have been a better choice than Daily.
These are parents bringing issues to the board month after month and getting ignored.

Daily strolls in and calls the Superintendent by his first name “Scott” instead of Dr. Rowe as would be respectful of his title.

They clearly all know each other & picked another one of their own instead of someone who would challenge the endless spending and tax increases!!

I have only repeated the opposite that I believe Mr. Dailey is a great representative for the district.
Also, it is extremely rare that the board meets everyone from a company of which we do business with.

I have a hard time believing that during the application and interview process not one sitting board member performed a simple search to review background employment information to mitigate any possible conflicts of interest including reviewing paid contracts to the applicants company?
There very well be rules in place that state you can run for a school board seat while being a supplier to the school.
