Did County Board Members Violate the Open Meetings Act? — 8 Comments

  1. No actual County Board business, so I would say no.

Same as if a bunch of them showed up at Galaţi’s or a Township Party event.

  2. Numbers wise it looks like it. A majority of quorum.

There are at least 6 people from the board and what is quorum?

Wouldn’t it be 10 people (since it’s an 18 member board)?

    6 would be a majority of 10.

    Right?

    What did they discuss though?

Does it have anything to do with what is coming up at their meetings?

How loose or strict are courts in interpreting “public business”?

Maybe it doesn’t need to have anything to do with what is coming up at their meetings. idk.

Should we root for the “good government” cucks and parasitic lawyers OR the idiotic taxpayers if there is a lawsuit???

  3. Hey, I see the liar and crook Ricky “the Trick” Mack is featured.

Why are his property tax assessments so low?

    Will he ever respond?

  4. Clearly it is the McHenry County Council of Governments.

Would they not be discussing governmental things?

    Short term memory in politics

    5 ILCS 120/1.02) (from Ch. 102, par. 41.02)

Sec. 1.02. For the purposes of this Act:

“Meeting” means any gathering, whether in person or by video or audio conference, telephone call, electronic means (such as, without limitation, electronic mail, electronic chat, and instant messaging), or other means of contemporaneous interactive communication, of a majority of a quorum of the members of a public body held for the purpose of discussing public business or, for a 5-member public body, a quorum of the members of a public body held for the purpose of discussing public business.

  5. Kelly Liebmann knows all, tells all.

But what about Goad’s ‘expense’ acct?

  6. Kelly, no. If they’re not talking about county board business it is not a violation.

Trust me they’re all there just for their free meal on the taxpayers.

  7. Mr X, I have asked you to contact me in the past, yet you do not do so. I am available to chat. I’d like to get more information from you.

Russ, “Public business” as written in the statute is not limited to county business.

Rauner’s Turnaround Agenda was statewide ‘reforms’ yet the county board anted up.
