Frpm Kirk Donald:
Why I’m a candidate for McHenry County College Trustee
McHenry County College is a tremendous asset to our county. It is a key resource to help both full and part-time students, both younger as well as older, launch careers and professions that can lead to higher incomes and more opportunity.
Ultimately, educational experiences offered at MCC can change lives, give families a better quality of life, and set the stage for the next generation to continue on the same path of success. This is also fundamental for our overall county to continue to grow and prosper in the years ahead.
However, In order for MCC to serve the people of our county it must be both affordable and accessible.
I am running for MCC trustee because I believe I can best represent the interests of our community.
As an MCC alumni I know what it’s like to spend countless hours taking part-time classes while holding a full-time job and raising a family.

I know how important it is to make sure that the classroom schedules accommodate the needs of our students and not the other way around.
As a successful businessman I know how to maintain strict budgets and provide the kind of fiscal oversight that MCC will need in the years ahead to keep education affordable to all.
Well Kirk, you’ve got your work cut out for you then.
MCC takes Fridays off during summer classes when STUDENTS could expect to take classes!
And it’s High School 2, a daycare center for the basement dwellers.
Turn it back into a jr college for those that want to learn something and get a job.
It’s a far cry from the local jr. college you went to and I went to.
I appreciate the comment Oak Harp, and I’ll work toward those goals!
Kirk, how have you seen CRT creep into MCC academics?
