Crisis Pregnancy Center Poison Pill Bill Advances in the State Senate

From State Senator Celina Villanueva:

Villanueva champions measure to address deceptive practices interfering with reproductive health care

SPRINGFIELD – In continuing the fight for reproductive rights for women, State Senator Celina Villanueva passed legislation that prevents crisis pregnancy centers from using deceptive practices that interfere with women’s health care decisions.

Celina Villanueva

“We must ensure that women who are seeking reproductive health care are protected from deceptive and misleading practices,” said Villanueva (D-Chicago).

“At a time when they are already vulnerable, they must have peace of mind that they won’t be taken advantage of. Health care – in all forms – should be safe and transparent.”

Senate Bill 1909 prohibits the use of deceptive practices to

  • interfere with an individual seeking to gain entry or access to the provider of an abortion or emergency contraceptives,
  • induce an individual to enter a limited services pregnancy center, in advertising, soliciting, or otherwise offering pregnancy-related services, or in providing pregnancy-related services.

While crisis pregnancy centers may advertise themselves as health care clinics, many of these facilities provide very limited services, such as basic ultrasounds and counseling intended to discourage and limit access to abortion.

Some centers are located near clinics that provide comprehensive reproductive health care and use names similar to these clinics in order to misdirect patients.

Many provide misleading information overstating the risks associated with abortion, including conveying false claims that abortion causes cancer or infertility.

“Deceptive practices at crisis pregnancy centers –such as delayed prenatal care – can lead to severe health conditions that women may have to live with for the rest of their lives,” said Villanueva.

“As Illinois has become an oasis for reproductive health care since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, it is our responsibility to keep fighting for residents to have access to choice without consequence.”

Senate Bill 1909 passed the Senate Executive Committee on Wednesday and heads to the Senate floor for further consideration.

Bruce Johnson of We the People McHenry County asks for help in defeating such legislation:

***CALL TO ACTION***

Action needed – send a message to your state representative and state senator asking them to leave crisis pregnancy centers alone by voting against HB 2463 and SB 1909. Tell them that pregnancy care centers do not engage in “deceptive practices” but rather vital life-giving work. The people at these centers minister to needy, vulnerable women and children and are supported by people of faith across the state who want to be a blessing.

Background:  the sponsors of these bills are attempting to punish pregnancy centers, a vital part of the pro-life cause, for their unwillingness to commit murder. Calling them “limited services pregnancy centers” is mockery, designed to create the impression that the value they offer to their clients is negligible, or at best insufficient. The bills also refer to the services of crisis pregnancy centers as “deceptive.” This deception is defined principally as “advertising, soliciting, or otherwise offering pregnancy-related services” that do not include abortions.

What is “deceptive?” It is defined only by the crisis pregnancy center’s unwillingness to perform abortions. The penalties for “deceptive practices” include fines up to $50,000 dollars—a fatal blow to most crisis pregnancy centers—and that money is to be put to use in going after more pregnancy centers for these supposed violations.

  1. I’ll ask again. As the media foams at the mouth over the latest school shooting to try to get rid of your 2nd Amendment protections, how many unborn babies were killed on that day? Lowitzki lobbied for it. Maybe he can tell us since he’s an expert.

I’ll wager the Hispanic woman also supported the SAFE T law too.

  2. What’s the poison pill, Cal? A poison pill is specific language within a bill, often an amendment, that makes the bill likely to fail.

Which part is the poison pill?

Is there something new? I’ve heard about the bill for a while.

The purpose of the legislation itself is to force these places to recommend abortion or shut down, right?

That was always the point, and aren’t most Democrats in the legislature on board with it?

I don’t think it’s a good bill, but it sounds like you are misusing the term “poison pill.”

The only thing that is surprising is that Bruce is saying the bill would force the centers to perform abortion themselves.

I thought the bill was about forcing centers to write a note to a doctor, not actually doing the abortion themselves!

Either way it would be a violation of people’s consciences, and it should be rejected, but the latter is worse.

This bill will limit the supply of health care for pregnant women.

It really is not about “health care” for these people.

It’s about forcing everyone else to take part in their violent rituals like Cindy pointed out.

  3. Cindy is a senile old lady that is always yelling and screaming about everything.

  4. Planned Parenthood and the Dems are the ones taking advantage of girls/women in crisis!!!

  5. Shalom Ya’All —

We like freedom, and the freedom to have a baby is one we find sacred.

    Stay Ignorant My Friends,

The Most Interesting Jew in the World

    PS I haven’t read CPT’s article.

  6. The Most Conceited Jew In The World would be a more appropriate self-description.
With Shondas like Pritzker, you’ve got a lot of competition.
    It’s in their DNA.

  7. Kangaroo, maybe it is the liberal sects of Jews misinterpreting their own religion? There are pro-life Jews.

From what I’ve read, Islam and Judaism allow abortion up until a certain point in the pregnancy and then it is prohibited. Apparently some feel that because it’s permitted, that it’s somehow part of their religion. It’s a really strange interpretation. Imagine if Christians said they are allowed to eat meat so we need to pass a law to force vegetarian restaurants to serve meat because their religion allows meat consumption. Christians are not prohibited from being vegetarians. They’re not commanded to eat meat, just like Jews are not commanded to have abortions. So how is it part of their religion?

Maybe I’m wrong though; I’m not the Jew expert. We have a guy on this blog pretending to be a Jew. Maybe he could tell us about Judaism.

  8. Liberals and Democrats are notorious for lying, misnaming bills, causes and other stuff.

Most famous probably is changing the name of illegal aliens to undocumented immigrants.

So-called “reproductive health care” is simply abortion on demand.

Real and truthful and honest Reproductive Health Care has been going on for hundreds of years.

Pregnant women go to doctors to get medical care during pregnancy and then right up to the birth of their child.

    That is reproductive health care.

    Reproducing a human being.

Aborting a possible human being is not Reproductive Health Care.

  9. LOL. Podesta and Hillary and their ilk need Pizza toppings bred. Haven’t you figured that out yet. As Cindy said. Sacrifice to Moloch. But hey what do I know.

  10. Correcting, maybe you should start waking up a bit and turn off the teevee for awhile.

Bernard Lazare, a French Jewish intellectual, early defender of Dreyfus and opponent of Judeophobia, noted, in the late 19th century, that Jews had fallen out with nearly every society in which they had dwelled, over the millennia.

This despite great differences in race, religion, culture, history, geography, social arrangements etc, between those societies.

He observed that this near universal aversion to Jewry must have had some basis in the behaviour of ‘Israel’ ie the Jews, themselves.

This culpability had varied from place to place, and innate Judeophobic antipathy obviously also existed, as hatreds of other groups, and within groups, so characterises human societies, particularly in times of war, social disintegration, disease and natural disasters etc.
However, today, inescapably, the religion of compulsory Judeophilia asserts that EVERY falling out between Jews and the goyim, without exception, was ENTIRELY the fault of the goyim, and the Jews were ALWAYS totally innocent, even of error, miscalculation and bad luck. And any who dares question these assertions, even in the smallest degree, is denounced and harried as an ‘antisemite’.

    Odd, ain’t it.

  11. “The Most Conceited Jew In The World would be a more appropriate self-description.

More intelligent discourse on “Bitchin with Abe. title “Semitic insight and anthropology.”

  12. I find it interesting that the self ID’d jew won’t read something.

Just like the Jews that run FB, etc., spiking articles they don’t like, but trashing Christians 24/7.

It’s called backlash kewpie jewpie and it won’t end nicely for ye or your venomous ilk.

Zelensky will be dead very soon…… taken out by Ukrainians not Russians or Cossacks!

And his US secret service bodyguard detail might get it in the neck, too.
