MCHENRY POLICE ARREST SUBJECT IN CONNECTION WITH A DISTURBANCE LEADING TO THE RECKLESS DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM
John Birk, Chief of Police of the McHenry Police Department, announced today the arrest of a male subject in connection with a disturbance and shooting that occurred in McHenry.
NICHOLAS C. LOPARDO, (age 25, DOB: 10/08/1997) of Lake Villa, Illinois, was arrested without incident by the McHenry Police Department on March 31st, 2023 with the assistance of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and The Northern Illinois Police Alarm System.
On Friday March 31st, 2023 at approximately 12:50 A.M., the McHenry Police Department responded to the 3000 Block of Charlotte Avenue in McHenry for a reported domestic disturbance with possible gun shots.
Officers spotted Lopardo near John Street and Green Street driving a black Jaquar at a high rate of speed.
An attempt was made to conduct of traffic stop on Lopardo, but he failed to yield, and no pursuit was initiated.
Secondary reports of shots being fired came in near the intersection of Veteran’s Parkway and Barreville Road.
While police were responding to the area, one McHenry Police squad was struck with gunfire, along with one McHenry County Sherriff’s squad.
A third civilian vehicle was struck, as well.
All three vehicles were occupied at the time of the shootings.
No injuries were reported.
A third area being investigated by the McHenry Police is in the Oaks of Irish Prairie neighborhood, where
reports of damaged windows and possible entry attempts were made by Lopardo.
A shelter-in-place was sent out via NIXLE while the area was searched.
At approximately 4:55 hours, Lopardo was located near the intersection of Murphy Drive and Cashel Road.
Lopardo was taken into custody without incident and the shelter in place was lifted.
Due to the expansive crime scene with multiple agencies working in cooperation, further information will not be released at this time based on the on-going efforts.
Lopardo is being held at the McHenry Police Department awaiting charges.

Possessions of Cannabis With Intent to Deliver Arrest
On 02/12/2023, at 12:05 a.m., near Deerfield Rd and Saunders Rd, police arrested Nicholas C. Lopardo, male, age 25, of the 37500 block of N. Alpine Lane, Lake Villa, IL, for Unlawful Possession of Cannabis with the Intent to Deliver (more than 30 grams, but not more than 500 grams; a Class 3 Felony). Lopardo was process and then transported to Lake County Jail to await a bond hearing.
Lopardo’s court date will be set by a judge.
