Racism Surfaces at Huntley High School, Juvenile Felony Charges Approved

From the Huntley Police comes this press release:

Huntley High School

“Last week the Huntley Police Department School Resource Officer and Huntley High School Administration received reports of racially-motivated messages from a single student that had been shared through social media with other students.

“The investigation revealed that the posts were originally sent earlier in the year and were recirculated last week among students.

“While this matter is still under investigation, the Huntley Police Department has been in contact with the
McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office regarding charges.

“At this point, multiple felony charges have been approved for one juvenile who will be petitioned into juvenile court.

“Further information will not be released due to the age of those involved, per Illinois State Statute regarding the confidentiality of juvenile law enforcement records.

“The Huntley Police Department takes these matters seriously and those participating in such conduct will be held accountable.

“We will continue to work closely with school officials on issues that impact the safety of all students and staff within the Village of Huntley.”
