A County Board Appointment That Pays

There are not a lot of appointments made by a McHenry County Board Chairman, but membership on the Zoning Board of Appeals is one.

Here’s a press release soliciting applicants:

Deadline Approaching to Apply for Vacancy on Zoning Board of Appeals

WOODSTOCK, Ill. – Are you passionate about zoning and land use, and have a desire to serve your community?

If so, time is running out to apply to fill a vacancy on the McHenry County Zoning Board of Appeals.

The purpose of the nine-member ZBA is to hold hearings and make recommendations on zoning, conditional use permit and planned unit development applications.

The ZBA also makes decisions on zoning appeals, and makes recommendations on zoning map and text amendment applications.

Board members are paid a $110 per-diem for meetings; the ZBA meets Wednesday and Thursday afternoons on an as-needed basis.

Applicants to fill the vacancy must live in Chemung, Hebron, Burton, Dunham, Hartland, Greenwood, McHenry, Marengo or Seneca townships; no two members of the ZBA can be from the same township.

Interested persons have until Tuesday, May 23, to apply through the county’s application portal for boards and commissions, which can be found here.
