Algonquin Police Department joins Illinois ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign to save lives

Algonquin, IL — The Algonquin Police Department today announced it is stepping up enforcement for the Memorial Day “Click It or Ticket” campaign that will run May 19-30 and reminds motorists to buckle up for safety. “Click It or Ticket” leverages education and enforcement to save lives.

“Seat belts have proven to be life-saving in the event of a crash,” said Sergeant Jason Burzynski. “Unfortunately, many still don’t buckle up. Worse yet, not wearing a seat belt is a habit that can be passed on to younger generations who follow the example set by their elders.”

Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer, a popular time for traveling to visit family and friends. Whether you are traveling down the block or across the country, make sure you buckle up every time. Wearing a seat belt can reduce the risk of fatal injury by 45%. Seat belts save lives every day, but they’re only effective if they’re used.

While Illinois currently has a 93% seat belt use compliance rate, unbelted occupants still account for more than half of those killed in motor vehicle crashes. The simple click of a seat belt could save thousands of lives each year.

The “Click It or Ticket” campaign is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation with federal highway safety funds.

Police Ramping Up Enforcement Starting Friday — 31 Comments

  1. What a joke. Our own tax dollars being used to pay LEOs to harass us and collect more road taxes from us.

  2. All this while cell phone blabbers and texters flaunt the law right in front of the police.

In the interest of safety, which is more dangerous to the motoring public, people who may

forget to buckle up or cell phone blabbers/texters?

When seatbelt laws were first passed it was supposed to be a non-finable offense.

Of course, we all knew that was bullshit.

  3. If you give government an inch they’ll take a MILE.

The police have always stated they were interested in this law to “save lives”. That turns out to be BS.

Government is an evil necessity; police should treat their citizenry with the utmost respect and, to the best of their ability, allow Americans to live FREE LIVES….and LEAVE THEM ALONE

Instead, we get expansion of their powers. All this does is create animosity between citizens and the public.

  4. Yeah, much more convenient being carried away on a backboard or scooped up into a plastic bag than having to walk away on your own power.

  5. Next it will be a ticket for driving with your shoes untied.

  6. Mellow, typical liberal.

We should ticket eating cake, smoking, refusing to exercise, watching TV more than 2 hours…..

    You’d be all for that.

  7. Bred, agree.

But, believe it or not, some people ride motorcycles !!!

That should be illegal; no sense “buckling up” in a motorcycle, now, is there?

In fact, the dangers of driving are so vile, I say let’s make driving itself illegal !

No body bags on the road at all, then, Mellow – you can celebrate another government victory over freedom and say you were doing it to “protect lives”.

  8. Blog babies unite! Gee shocker, Girlie man Jt and burglary victim abe in full effect. Cry on a blog. Make a difference! Complete losers.

  9. Through the years, decades, have heard comments from various – co workers, neighbors, relatives, etc – that they don’t wear seatbelts because they say in event of an accident, they want to be able to get out of their car/pickup/suv QUICKLY in case of a fire. It would take extra time to unbuckle and they might burn to death or be severely burned.

Police officers stopping a motorist that does not wear a belt should not give them a ticket if they give the above reason for not wearing a belt. It’s their life.

What about motorcycle drivers and their passengers. Motorcycles don’t have seatbelts and furthermore do not have the protective steel around them as in a car/pickup/suv.

  10. Police do something, you babies complain. They don’t do something, you babies complain. So only selective enforcement to what the male Karens like girlie man Jt and whiney abe want. Got it.

  11. RENT FREE – NOW AND FOREVER And there ain’t a GD thing he can do to evict us, AIN’T IT GREAT JT !

  12. Seatbelts are a safety measure. There are so many lousy/illegal/teenage/senior drivers these days common sense says protect yourself and passengers.

And stop with the seatbelt deal on motorcycles.

Y’all sound like petulant 3 year olds

  13. I must have had 400 unpaid parking tickets my senior year of college.

    ‘Come and get me coppers’….

  14. Revere is correct, when I turned 55, I barely had the energy to reach the steering wheel.

  15. LITH cops the worst. Followed by Woke Woodstock and Tranny Heaven McHenry.

Hey, they’ve got quota’s to meet for a shot at that Caribbean Cruise Grand Prize at Xmas!

  16. Joseph: “You’re all cry babies!” “Don’t complain, do something!”

What hogwash. Joseph – you’re doing on this blod what your 4th grade teacher told you. Good, job, Joseph!. You get the “I struck out 3 times but I deserve a trophy anyway” award !!!

The problem with the seat belt law was this: it gave government the idea that “safety” trumps FREEDOM. That’s NOT TRUE. Freedom should ALWAYS trump safety. Freedom is the reason American boys died on the beaches of Iwo Jima and Normandy. How about those body bags, Joseph.

We give up freedom for saftey and then what does government do next? A virus pandemic hits and there are government mandates on When/Where we can work, whether our businesses can be open, we are compelled to get jabbed and put a diaper on our face for years – and the effect? Trillions in debt, loss of freedom, and we didn’t help anybody.

But Joesph gets his “Good boy, Joe! You’re (ostensibly) helping children and grandma by forcing shots, diapers, and seat belts!” When, in fact all we are doing is making government better and we become serfs.

Joesph – you are a sycophant to your slave lord – our government. YOU MAKE ME SICK. You’re a pile of dung who thinks himself superior because your words appear to help others. In reality, you’re a brown-nose fraud. The men who died for your freedom are puking in their graves.

  17. CLM. The blog twit didn’t deserve that many key strokes. He’s warming up his lips for tomorrow night. His mandates are waiting for his arrival. Here come TRIGGERED BOY. LOL

  18. Some more of the brilliant insight from CLM. Triggered by a troll. “YOU MAKE ME SICK” Sounds like just triggered bitching to me.
but then you’re a genius among this crowd.

  19. “LOL Abe. We give a troll a purpose in his dull boring life.” and yet you are here day and night with your bullshit.
    Get a life

  20. “Yeah, much more convenient being carried away on a backboard or scooped up into a plastic bag than having to walk away on your own power.” seems a reasonable statement.
And the brilliant, insightful Cock Loving Man CLM. responds:
    “Mellow, typical liberal.
We should ticket eating cake, smoking, refusing to exercise, watching TV more than 2 hours…..
    You’d be all for that.”
Brilliant and insightful. I think you have taken the crown from correcting as dean of the blog.

  21. WOW. LOFL. Mega MAGA TRIGGERED dope smoker flufferboy. 3 posts to make a point. Porkboy, order another Bud Light and communicate with the guy sitting on the barstool next to you before you run home to your next bong.

  22. Don’t remember a single thing my 4th Grade Teacher said, but my 2nd Grade Teacher used to call me crap pants.

  23. What’s next per our government per Joe Biden? They want to make gas stoves illegal. How soon before we have to register our gas stoves and then given a date by which these must be removed, OR ELSE. More jobs for government workers to be hired to go into houses and into kitchens to determine if a gas stove and then a write-up with a follow-up letter giving a date to remove. OF course the removal process will include the government workers, inspectors to assure it was carried out to their dump truck.

  24. CLM, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. Loser.

  25. Triggered the coward, no one posts more than you. Still seeking validation shortshanks.

  26. +1 JT
don’t worry about the ones that don’t have insurance or a license or continue to TEXT or hold Their phones to their ears on a daily basis….

  27. I think some senior citizen shouldn’t be allowed to drive.

    Especially not during rush hour.🤷‍♂️
