Former Lakewood Village Trustee Bryan Younge and soon-to-be former Village Trustee Ryan Berman didn’t get along during the administration President Phil Strephan.
And, as those who read the following civil lawsuit filed last month by Younge against Berman will see, that is probably an understatement.
Younge has two attorneys:
- Adam L. Gill of Fox Swibel Levin & Carroll of Chicago LLP
- Kevin F. Berry of Royer Cooper Cohen Braunfeld of Philadelphia, PA
The suit started in Federal Court, but the Judge dismissed the Federal angle, so it had to be re-filed in State Court.
President David Stavropoulos announced this at the beginning of the May 10, 2023, Board meeting.
Apparently the taxpayers are paying for Berman’s side of the case.

After reading the complaint which has not been answered by the Defendant I question ‘Richardson’s’ credibility for example as he has an alleged ‘aggravated assault’ on camera yet no criminal charges were filed by the MCSO.
I also have concerns regarding ‘Richardson’s’ alleged ‘outburst’ yelling and slamming doors.
Clearly unprofessional conduct by a ‘Police Chief’.
IMO, and I’m not a Psychiatrist, sound like he has mental health issues and perhaps delusional.
Hopefully he isn’t allowed to possess a firearm.
