I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine.
In addition to the regular filters, I have a super-duper one, which starts out white.
Here’s what it looked like when I changed it this fall:
At least at night I didn’t breathe the smoke polluting our part of North America.

I am glad your CPAP filter kept at least some of the smoke & dust out of your lungs, Mr. Skinner.
Your photo shows a filter that could definitely use a change.
