Rep. Sosnowski statement on Governor’s plan to divert state funding to resettle non-citizens
ROCKFORD, Ill. – State Representative Joe Sosnowski, R-Rockford, issued the following statement in response to Governor JB Pritzker’s plan to divert $160 million in taxpayer funds to process and resettle non-citizens throughout the state:
“The Governor’s announcement to spend at least $160 million on migrant resettlement is outrageous.
“His priorities are in the wrong place at a time when Illinois families continue to struggle with inflation and the rising cost of living.
“Meanwhile, the Governor won’t allow a $75 million tax credit to continue the Invest in Kids scholarship program that has given tens of thousands of Illinois students the opportunity to go to the school that best fits their learning needs since 2018, yet he’s willing to spend $160 million on migrant resettlement.
“This is on top of at least $550 million to provide non-resident health care benefits this fiscal year.
“I strongly oppose the Governor’s continued diversion of taxpayer dollars to prioritize non-citizens over Illinois families.”
Representative Sosnowski serves the 69th District which includes portions of Winnebago, Boone, and McHenry Counties.
Sosnowski had better learn to hold his tongue lest he be labeled as an Anti-Semite by the ADL for
criticizing his better.
