Following a decisive election win, Mike Buehler has been re-elected as Chairman of the McHenry County Board, a victory he attributes to residents’ approval of the county’s direction and ongoing commitment to public safety, economic growth, and essential infrastructure improvements.
“This victory reflects the trust and confidence our residents have in the path McHenry County is on,” said
Buehler.
“Our focus on supporting
- public safety,
- fostering economic and
- workforce development,
and enhancing our county’s infrastructure—whether through
- expanded broadband,
- upgraded transportation networks, or
- improved roadways—
has resonated with voters.
“We are achieving results, and our community recognizes that progress.”
Under Buehler’s leadership, McHenry County has set a high standard in mulƟple areas:
- Public Safety: McHenry County is now recognized as the safest county in Illinois for a county of its
size, an accomplishment achieved through dedicated investment and collaborative partnerships with
local law enforcement and public safety agencies. - Debt-Free Financial Management: McHenry County remains one of the few counties nationwide
that is entirely debt-free, reflecting a commitment to responsible budgeting and fiscal stewardship. - National Recognition for Effective Use of Covid Relief Funding: The U.S. Treasury recently
acknowledged McHenry County as one of only 17 counties out of over 3,000 across the country for its innovative and thoughƞul application of Covid relief funds. This recognition underscores the county’s commitment to accountability and effective resource allocation.
As Chairman, Buehler promises to continue advancing these priorities without distraction from
hyperpartisan issues that do not pertain to county governance.
“Our residents expect us to work together on the issues that maƩer to their lives and livelihoods. This means staying focused on tangible improvements in their communiƟes and delivering results that everyone in McHenry County can be proud of,” he said.

where families, businesses, and communities thrive through collaborative efforts, innovative investments, and responsible governance.
