From the McHenry Police Department:
Vehicle vs Pedestrian Crash Update
On Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at approximately 5:50PM, the McHenry Police Department and
McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) responded to the 2100 block of Riverside Drive for a
reported crash involving one vehicle and a pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation determined a pedestrian was struck by a black 2008 Ford Escape which had
been travelling south on Riverside Drive. The pedestrian was walking southbound Riverside Drive in the
southbound lanes.
The pedestrian, a 30-year-old male, from McHenry, Illinois, was transported by MTFPD to Northwestern
Medicine McHenry Hospital and then flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois, for
treatment of his injuries, which were considered non-life threatening.
Based on evidence collected at the scene, witness statements and interviews of the occupant of the Ford, the investigation has determined the pedestrian was walking on the pavement, along the side of the road.
At this time, there have been no citations issued, as the cause of this crash is still under investigation.
The McHenry Police Department wants to thank our community for their patience while we conducted this investigation.
