From Eric Sivertsen:

Supervisor on Tuesday!

I would like to ask for your support this Tuesday at the McHenry Township GOP Caucus at the McHenry Township Hall at 3703 N Richmond Rd, Johnsburg. IL 60051 at 7pm.

I have submitted my name for nomination to become the next McHenry Township Supervisor. I am a lifelong resident of McHenry Township, and I have closely followed the politics and business of McHenry Township for many years. This is actually the 2nd time that I will be a candidate for McHenry Township Supervisor. 8 years ago when a small group within the local Republican party hijacked the process and made their votes count hundreds of times more than the average citizen, I stood up and ran against the candidate for Supervisor who was also at the time the Chairman of the McHenry Township Republican Party. Because of the weighted vote, I was unsuccessful in winning the nomination at that caucus, and the results of that caucus went on to be 4 trustees who spent 4 years trying to tear apart McHenry Township.

4 years ago at the time of the caucus, I was the Chairman of the McHenry Township Republican party. We ran a fair caucus where despite the challenges of Covid restrictions, we allowed the people to choose their candidates and set McHenry Township back on a better path.

It is important to me that the elected officials that we vote for should be the ones doing the job that they are elected to do. I don’t feel that is what has been happening here in McHenry Township and think that I could do a better job. McHenry Township has some great employees, but the Supervisor should be well versed and able to answer questions about everything important occurring at the township. My experience as a business owner and in managing commercial construction projects, often with a larger budget than the annual township budget leave me well equipped to provide the leadership to Make McHenry Township Great Again.

For the past 10+ years I have been vocal about problems with the appointment process to fill vacancies in the township. I would like to see a return to a more transparent process that brings in more candidates and more stakeholders, like it used to be when I first got involved in McHenry Township politics.

That is not the only place that I want to see more active communication with residents, for several years there have been discussions about bringing back the Township newsletter. While a printed newsletter mailed to every door every 3 months like it used to be is probably not the answer, it is important that the Township develop new ways to better communicate with the residents.

It is important that McHenry Township develops more partnerships with other local units of government and with local organizations to maximize the available resources and better serve the residents. We need to pursue more opportunities to receive more county, state and federal funding, to make sure that McHenry County residents are seeing their tax dollars come back to serve the residents here.

I am a local small business owner. I own a shooting range/gun shop/firearms training business. It will require me to make some adjustments to how I operate my business, but I am willing to commit to making the necessary changes to serve the residents of McHenry Township as the next Supervisor.

McHenry Township has been a Republican stronghold for decades and can continue to be an example of what responsible Republican leadership can do. I ask for your support and for your vote on Tuesday and in April.
