The Nunda Township Board passed its compensation ordinance in a timely fashion.
It can be seen here.
In addition to his salary, plowing new ground, the Board voted to give the next Road Commissioner $500 for each meeting he attends.
Township Assessor Mark Dzemske got a similar deal, but for half the amount,.
He rejected it.
In an email to McHenry County Blog, Dzemske wrote,
“It was pointed out to me your posting of compensation for the offices of Nunda Township for the next term.
“Please note the Road Commissioner compensation which was set includes a $500 per meeting (which is $28,000 over the term) stipend for attendance.
“As the current township Assessor and apparently the only candidate for the next term for the office, I will tell you the same thing I told the people that set the compensation for the Assessors position which is as follows
“‘The only thing they accomplished with this act was to guarantee I will not attend a meeting, please do not account for $3,500 in the annual levy which equates to $14,000 over the term of the office as I would not be able to look a taxpayer in the eye for accepting such compensation'”
