From the McHenry Township Fire Protection District:

Armistead Lane Fire

On Monday, December 30th, at approximately 1:20 p.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 1000 block of Armistead Lane in McHenry.

MTFPD crews arrived within six minutes to find a two-story, multi-family residence with light smoke showing from the garage.

All residents had safely evacuated the building prior to our arrival.

It was also reported that a bystander had used a fire extinguisher to help contain the fire before firefighters arrived.

Crews found a small fire inside the garage that had spread into the crawlspace.

MTFPD crews deployed a pressurized water extinguisher and a hoseline to extinguish the remaining fire.

A search of the home was conducted to ensure that all occupants were accounted for.

The fire was declared under control within ten minutes.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The fire is currently under investigation, and a damage estimate is not available at this time.

The residence is considered uninhabitable due to a broken water pipe.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
