Impaired driving campaign makes holidays safer
Lake in the Hills, IL – This holiday season, the Lake in the Hills Police Department teamed up with the Illinois Department of Transportation and law enforcement agencies statewide for the “Drive Sober or Get
Pulled Over” campaign, targeting impaired drivers from Dec. 13 through Jan. 2.
The result being a safer holiday season with five arrests and sixty-six citations traffic offenses.
During the campaign, Lake in the Hills Police Department reported the following enforcement outcomes:
Citations:
- 18 – Driver Required to Wear Seat Belt
- 1 – Passenger Required to Wear Seat Belt
- 19 – Speeding
- 8 – Distracted Driving
- 2 – Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle
- 1 – Failure to Signal
- 1 – No Registration (Front or Rear Plate)
- 1 – Improper Turn at Intersection
- 1 – Disobeyed Traffic Control Device
- 1 – Illegal Transportation of Alcohol
- 1 – Registration Suspended for Non-Insurance
- 6 – Expired Registration
- 1 – Improper Lane Usage
Arrests:
- 1 – DUI
- 1 – Possession of Cannabis by Driver
- 2- Driving While License Suspended
- 1 – Speeding 26-34mph Over Limit
The enforcement initiative, administered by IDOT and funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, underscores the collective commitment to safer roadways, particularly during high-risk imes like the holidays.
