House Fire in Trout Valley

On January 8, 2025, at 2:25 p.m., the Cary Fire Protection District responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 0-100 block of Marryat Road in Trout Valley.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a large two-story residence with significant fire showing from the north side of the structure.

Due to the absence of hydrants in the area, a Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) upgrade was activated to request additional manpower and water resources to respond to the scene and to backfill the station.

Rural water operations were established at the roadway, with water shuttled to the scene to support firefighting efforts.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within 25 minutes.

As the initial fire was being knocked down, firefighters entered the home to conduct thorough searches to ensure no occupants were inside.

Crews also worked to cut holes in the roof to check for fire extension and to exhaust heat from the attic space.

These operations were critical in containing the fire and preventing further spread.

Crews remained on scene for an additional hour to ensure the fire had not extended further into the structure, to perform overhaul operations, and to conduct an investigation.

No one was home at the time of the fire, which was reported by a passerby who noticed the flames. Two dogs were inside the residence but escaped unharmed.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The Cary Fire Protection District extends its gratitude to neighboring fire agencies for their assistance in managing this incident.
