The Chicago Tribune reports today the sentencing of former Ford Heights Mayor Charles Griffin to four years in prision.
The Mayor was a thief, stealing tens of thousands from his constituents, according to the story.
His attorney asked for probation, but it was not granted.
The Tribune reported,
“To place Mr. Griffin on probation would deprecate the seriousness (of the crime),” [James] Obbish said, adding he hopes Griffin’s sentence acts as a deterrent, preventing others “from dipping into public funds, taking more than their salary.”
