WTTW has a good summary of the Mike Madigan/Mike McLain trail, which is now ready to go to the jury.

“’When people ask for help, if possible, I try to help them,’ [Dan] Collins said, reciting Madigan’s own testimony at trial. ‘That’s Mike Madigan. It’s that simple. … Mike is not corrupt. Mike is not about power. Mike is not about profit. Mike will help, if possible, when asked.”’ [Emphasis added.]

That Madigan is not all about power is absolute BS.

That is all he ever cared about.

Former State Rep. Mike Tryon told me of a dinner a couple he knew had with the Madigans.

The wife asked Madigan a question about public policy.

Madigan’s answer was something like this: “You don’t understand, I do what needs to be done to keep Democrats in power.”

Not that the motivation has much to do with the outcome of the trial.

But his attorney’s blatant lie about what motivated Madigan’s political life needs to be called out.
