While the increase in Cost-of-Living was only 2.9% this past year, the McHenry County Board voted Tuesday night to increase his salary to $250,000, a 5.3% hike.
Speaking against the increase were Board members Terri Greeno and Matt Kunkle.
The vote was 12-5.

Voting in favor were
- Pam Althoff
- Carolyn Campbell
- John Collins
- Joe Gottemoeller
- Eric Hendricks
- Jim Keanrs
- Brian Sager
- MikeShorten
- Mike Skala
- Paul Thomas
- Gloria Van Hof
- Tracie Von Bergen
In opposition were
- Terri Greeno
- Carl Kamienski
- Deena Krieger
- Matt Kunkle
- Pat Sullivan
Larry Smith did not vote.

“Power has shifted away from the elected officials to the Administration,” Kunkle said.
He reported that 100% of the constituents who contacted him were opposed to moving forward on the contract.
Greene and Kunkle are the only two fiscal conservatives on seven-member Finance Committee, where two of three Democrats have been assigned. [John Collins pointed out that all three Democrats are not on the committee, as I originally reported.]
