From incumbent Nunda Township Supervisor Leda Bobera-Drain:

Another clarification for Mike Shorten

Mike Shorten, let me clarify some things for you again.

General Assistance is a statutory requirement under 60 ILCS 1/85 -13 paragraph A.

The manual written by the State is followed and does not need to be approved by the board.

It is a legal obligation of the Township.

Per 305 ILCS 5/6-11a, General Assistance services can be expanded into programs such as Emergency Assistance, with board approval. Which Nunda Township has done and later modified as recently as January 2023.

The unpaid invoice you are referring to is an improper attorney bill incurred by three Trustees, Rob Parrish, Tim Parrish, and Johanna Donahue.

They did not have the authority nor would they disclose to the taxpayers or the board what these fees were for.

This attorney bill was approved by the same three Trustees who accrued all these fees without prior approval.

As a steward of taxpayer monies, it is my job to ensure that it’s being spent responsibly.

I hope taxpayers are pleased to have a Township Supervisor who is truly fulfilling her responsibilities and standing up for their interests.

Is that the plan, Mr. Shorten?

To pay over $16,000 in improper fees created behind the back of taxpayers?

These false allegations and unsubstantiated accusations are just that.

Nunda Township is 100% transparent, the door is always open.

Do your research.
