Algonquin Village Board Reviews Community Survey Results

Residents Report High Satisfaction with Quality of Life and Village Services

ALGONQUIN, IL – The results of the 2024 Algonquin Community Survey were recently presented to the Algonquin Village Board, marking the twelfth year of this annual initiative. The survey captures resident perceptions of quality of life and the effectiveness and value of municipal services in Algonquin.

Residents expressed high levels of satisfaction with several aspects of life in Algonquin, with:

  • 93.8% rating Algonquin positively as a place to live,
  • 91.9% positively rating their neighborhood as a place to live, and
  • 91.6% rating Algonquin as a great place to raise children.

Village services also received high praise, with 911 services, garbage collection, online payment options, recycling, and the quality of Village parks ranking among the most highly rated services. Since the survey’s inception, resident satisfaction with overall quality of life and municipal services has increased by 7.4%.

“These results reaffirm what we hear from residents every day—people are proud to call Algonquin home,” said Village President Debby Sosine. “Our commitment to high-quality services, responsive government, and ongoing investments in our community continues to enhance our residents’ lives.”

The survey also highlighted significant improvements in key areas since 2012:

  • 35.8% improvement in ease of car travel,
  • 33.8% improvement in employment opportunities, and
  • 27.8% improvement in traffic flow on major streets.

“It’s encouraging to see measurable progress in areas that directly impact our residents’ daily routines,” added Village President Debby Sosine. “Our efforts to enhance transportation and job opportunities are making a real difference in our community.”

Findings from the Algonquin Community Survey play a role in shaping the Village’s operating and capital budgets. The proposed 2025–2026 budget, currently in development, includes increased investments in transportation infrastructure, park facilities, and water and sewer infrastructure.
