Fatal Vehicle Crash on Mason Hill Road

On Monday, March 3, 2025, at 4:49 p.m., the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District was dispatched to the 8200 block of Mason Hill Road for a reported vehicle fire.

While en route, additional 911 calls indicated that the fire was the result of a crash, with reports that the vehicle had struck a tree and the occupant’s whereabouts were unknown. 

Upon arrival, firefighters observed a single vehicle with heavy damage that had collided with a tree and was fully engulfed in flames.

Crews immediately deployed a hose line to begin fire suppression.

During the operation, the vehicle’s fuel tank ruptured, intensifying the fire.

Additional water resources were requested, and firefighters applied a biodegradable, environmentally friendly foam to help smother the fire and prevent reignition. 

Following suppression efforts, firefighters located one deceased occupant inside the vehicle. 

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
