After the 1970 State Constitution was ratified, appointment power was taken away from local judges.
I sponsored the law and remember I couldn’t come up with a good idea of what should replace the judges.
It seems I concluded that county boards would have to do.
Now comes the McHenry County Board’s Law and Justice Committee with an agenda next week to appoint Fire Protection District Trustees for Fox River Grove, McHenry Township and Harvard.
There is no contest for two of them with one applicant for each board:
Fox River Grove Fire Protection District:
- Michael Kunz
McHenry Township Fire Protection District:
- Christopher Bennett
For Harvard, there are three people applying for two spots:
- Scott Logan
- Joel Brouillette
- Laur Evers
Logan and Evers are currently serving as Trustees. Logan is President, while Evers is Treasurer.
