Pretty much a “Help Wanted” ad from the Village of Fox River Grove:
“Volunteers are tough to come by,” says Village President Marc McLaughlin
FOX RIVER GROVE – The Village of Fox River Grove is ramping up its commitment to community events by seeking the assistance of a qualified individual or company to support its Special Events Commission in planning, coordinating, and managing its variety of community events.
This new contract position is designed to help ease the workload of dedicated community volunteers and ensure the continued success of events that bring residents together throughout the year.
“Volunteers are tough to come by in a smaller community, and many of the volunteers we do have work full-time jobs,” said Village President Marc McLaughlin. “This position will help to alleviate some of the workload for our volunteers by handling much of the preparation that goes into planning any community event.”
The Liaison will serve as a key partner to the Special Events Commission, attending meetings, developing timelines, organizing logistics, coordinating marketing and fundraising efforts, and managing on-site operations for each event. The position comes at a time of anticipated structural change for the Village’s appointed commissions, as the Village intends to consolidate the former Parks Commission and the Special Events Commission into a single, unified body focused on community events.
Under a unified commission, the Special Events Commission will carry forward one of the Village’s most cherished traditions: the annual Parks Fundraiser. Proceeds from the fundraiser will continue to support improvements and investments in the Village’s public parks. This year’s event is scheduled for Friday, June 20th and will take place in Picnic Grove Park.
The Village encourages qualified individuals or companies with experience in event planning, fundraising, community engagement, or volunteer coordination to submit their qualifications by April 23, 2025.
