Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm
On March 31, 2025, at approximately 9:52 PM, officers responded to the 900 – 1000 block of Dewey Street following reports of multiple gunshots.
Upon arrival, witnesses stated that a silver Chevrolet stopped in front of a residence in the 1000 block of
Dewey Street and fired multiple rounds, striking the garage before fleeing.
No injuries were reported.
A short time later, officers received reports of a suspicious silver vehicle circling several blocks away.
Officers located the vehicle near the intersection of Dewey Street and Grant Street and conducted a traffic stop.
Following an investigation, both occupants were taken into custody, and a firearm was recovered.

Miguel Mercado (M, 25) – N106 Hwy 14, Walworth, Wisconsin
Arrested on two McHenry County Failure to Appear Warrants (Driving While License Suspended)
Additional charges:
o Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm – Into a Building
o Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number
o Possession of a Firearm – No Valid FOID Card
o Possession of Ammunition – No Valid FOID Card
Issued traffic citations for:
o Operating an Uninsured Vehicle
o Open Alcohol in a Vehicle (Driver)
o Driving with Expired License Plates
o Driving While License Expired (More than One Year)
Transported to McHenry County Jail in lieu of bond.
