Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Under Investigation
A 57-year-old Capron man died following a single-vehicle crash in the 24700 block of Illinois Route 173 in Dunham Township near Harvard.
On Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 3:03 p.m. the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the Harvard Fire Protection District responded to a single-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 173 to the west of White Oaks Road, west of Chemung.

The vehicle involved was heavily damaged and located in a field north of the roadway.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 1984 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling eastbound on Illinois Route 173.

The sole occupant of the vehicle sustained fatal injuries because of the crash.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Speed and reckless driving are believed to be factors of the crash.
