And those on retirement in Illinois can see why not taxing old folks retirement income keeps them from moving to a southern state that doesn’t levy an income tax on anyone.
Meanwhile, write-in candidates await the tallying of ballots which will (or may in contested races) put them in public office.
The campaign that probably was most organized was that of former McHenry County Board member Lou Ness, who ran a write-in campaign for the Woodstock City Council.

But, probably stimulated by Mike Royko’s continual reporting on how many votes Mickey Mouse received, Springfield Democrats passed legislation requiring people to sign up their intentions to run a write-in campaign.
Regretfully, those Democrats took that fun out of election reporting.
