Both Dick Durbin and Jan Schakowsky are 80-years old.

Both let it be know today that they are not up for another campaign.

Having a couple of folks leak her plans led to a statement that she will decide in the coming weeks.

Already in the ring is Kat Abughazaleh, a resident of Chicago and pro-Palestine influencer.

In her announcement video, she appealed to younger folks by using the “F” word:

Abughazaleh raised an impressive amount of money since announcing her candidacy, but little of it came from potential constituents.

WTTW reports, she raised “just $3,250 in contributions of more than $200 from people who live in the 9th Congressional District, less than 1% of the total amount raised by the campaign, federal records show.”

Locally, State Rep. Sue Ness issued a press release on national issues.

Ness lives in the Algonquin Township part of the 9th congressional district.

And, recently, I have started getting emails from Evanston Mayor Dan Bliss. He ran for Governor in 2018 while serving as a State Senator. Previously, he served as a State Representative. At least he knows where McHenry County is, having brought his gubernatorial bus to Harvard for a rMoose Hall rally I attrended.

Laura Fine replaced Bliss as State Senator and also seems interested in the post.

So, we offer a Telli-Tubby Bye-Bye to the two senior citizen legislators.
