GERMAN ARMENTA-RUIZ SENTENCED TO TWELVE YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE
The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office announces that German Armenta-Ruiz, 59, of Chicago, Illinois, was sentenced to twelve years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
The sentence was handed down on April 22, 2025, by the Honorable Judge Mark R. Gerhardt after Armenta-Ruiz entered a negotiated plea of guilty to the offense of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class X Felony.
On September 19, 2024, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office received a tip of a large narcotics transaction planned to occur at the Super 8 Motel in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Members of the Narcotics Task Force conducted surveillance at the motel through which they observed Armenta-Ruiz, along with another man, arrive at the motel that evening.
Officers approached the car he was traveling in, and after police canine officer alerted as to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, the men were asked to exit the vehicle and a search was conducted.
Inside the car, deputies found over 900 grams of methamphetamine packaged for sale.
McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi Freese commends the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, especially the members of the Narcotics Task Force that worked on this case, for their continued relentless and productive work in combatting the illicit sale and trafficking of narcotics in McHenry County.
