From Congressman Ray LaHood:
LaHood Congratulates President Trump on His First 100 Days
Washington, D.C. – yesterday, Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-16) issued the following statement on President Trump’s first 100 days in office of his second term.
“In just 100 days, President Trump and House Republicans are delivering on the promises we made to the American people,” said Rep. LaHood.
“The Trump Administration is successfully securing our southern border, deporting violent illegal immigrants, and protecting our communities.
“His leadership has put our foreign adversaries on notice. President Trump’s national security team is bolstering our defense and cyber capabilities to counter the Chinese Communist Party and moving forward with maximum pressure on the leading state sponsor of terrorism—Iran.
“I am committed to working with my Congressional colleagues to build upon President Trump’s investments across the country.
“House Republicans are working to extend President Trump’s historic 2017 tax cuts, eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse in federal spending, and growing our economy.
“The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act created the best economy of my lifetime.
“We must extend these tax cuts to ensure hardworking American families, small businesses, and farmers will be able to thrive. Congressional Republicans and President Trump are committed to bringing down inflation, supporting our economy, and continuing to work hard for the American people.”..

From the Chicago Sun-Times:
How Trump hit Chicago and Illinois in his first 100 days in office
Reporting by Sun-Times staff
Leaving his mark: U.S. presidents are thought to wield their most influence during their initial 100 days in office, and President Trump has left many heads spinning in Democratic-controlled Illinois with a litany of executive orders and policy choices impacting everyday life.
Chicago in crosshairs: Chicago was immediately targeted by the new administration with immigration raids, a lawsuit against sanctuary policies at the city, county and state levels — and the ever-looming threat of federal funding cuts.
Communities brace: It remains unclear how many immigrants in the Chicago area have been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the first months of Trump’s presidency. Community groups have been holding “know your rights” training sessions and creating networks to alert immigrants about the presence of ICE in neighborhoods.
Education cuts: Trump has followed through on a promise to gut the U.S. Department of Education, with dozens of federal education workers laid off from Chicago offices and billions in future funding left in question. The impact is more acute in higher education — Trump has moved to cut off billions of dollars in federal funding to universities as the administration seeks to root out DEI-related measures.
