Fatal Vehicle Crash on Kimball Avenue
On Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 9:56 p.m., the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and Woodstock Police Department responded to a vehicle crash reported in the 400 block of E. Kimball Avenue.
While en route, dispatch reported that the vehicle had struck a tree, and CPR was in progress on the driver.
Firefighters and paramedics arrived within four minutes to find a heavily damaged vehicle that had collided with a tree.
Police officers were performing CPR on the driver, who was immediately transferred to an ambulance.
Tragically, despite advanced medical efforts, the driver was pronounced deceased by paramedics at the scene due to the severity of their injuries.
The male patient was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 12:30 a.m., assisting law enforcement with their investigation and coordinating with the coroner’s office representative.
Kimball Ave was closed in both direction for the duration of the incident.
The Woodstock Police Department and the McHenry County Regional Major Crash Assistant Team are investigating the crash. Any additional questions regarding the investigation, including cause, fault, seat belt use, or speeds, should be directed to them.
