From the Woodstock Fire/Reacue Doistrict:

Thanksgiving Crash on Charles Rd near Woodstoc

On Thursday, November 28, 2024, at 7:23 p.m., the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District was dispatched to a reported two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Charles Road and N. Queen Anne Road in unincorporated Woodstock.

Upon arrival, crews observed two heavily damaged vehicles with individuals on the ground nearby. The crash was located just west of the intersection.

One vehicle, which had rolled over, sustained significant damage, while the second vehicle, found upright, sustained moderate damage.

All occupants had self-extricated from their vehicles prior to the arrival of emergency crews. LifeNet helicopter was initially placed on standby but was ultimately turned down as the injuries were not deemed serious.

Four occupants from the overturned vehicle, including two adults and two children, were transported to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle refused medical care at the scene.

Charles Road was closed in both directions for nearly 60 minutes. Firefighters assisted with extensive debris removal from the roadway, which spanned approximately 100 feet. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. Any additional questions regarding the investigation, including cause, fault, seat belt use, or speeds, should be directed to them.

Considering all the circumstances surrounding the crash, this was the best possible outcome. It’s reassuring to know that both children were properly secured in their seats, which undoubtedly contributed to their safety.
